for the guys that have changed your suspension, what do you recommend for two-up riding for the 04 883?? I weigh about 160 and the SO weighs about 135, what about pre-load on the stock shocks? down or up? thanks for any information from those that have been there done that

I weigh 170 in my riding gear, when riding alone I have my preload on the lowest setting. When I ride with a passenger I turn it to it's highest setting.
This works fairly well for me.

You will definatly want to preload up. I', about 155 lbs and I rode with the preload in the middle, and jacked it to the max setting when I has a passenger, but would bottom out on occation. I've since moved to the 1200S shocked (on eBay for $150-210) and use the same basic prciples for the preload, but you can also increase the compression dampening to slow the shock down. I think you'll find of a lot guys using these shocks and having very good luck with them. They are the best bang for your buck you can get, and you'll LOVE the ride once thier dialed in right.
