i'm kind of on the wall here. i don't know to much about bikes,as i am learning daily. but the chopper kit i saw here really peaks my interest. i would love to put one of these on my bike, esp with my plans of a wide tire kit later this year.i know some of you have done this.what should i do. i'm not worried about doin the twisties at high speeds.i like straight line launches and cruising the back roads, not racing on them. thanks in advance guys.
jay.

You should do it if you plan to keep the sporty for a long time. These types of expenses only pay for themselves in enjoyment and look not in resale. I like the raked look myself and that is why I have mine. Check out my galley if you want to see some pics. How wide are you going to go in the rear. 04 already has 160 and I imagine that a bigger tire will fit in there with offsets but I am not sure.

It depends on what you like. I personally don't like raked out front ends. What I really want is a springer on mine...

Now we're talkin'. Looks like there are a number of us chopper folk in this forum. First stage for me will be the 250 wide tire, 3 degree rack with racked neck cups, new larger gas tank, new exhaust, drag bars, new headlight, bullet t/s, and a new paint job. Second stage will be the motor (ie. 1200 conversion, new carb, etc.) but I won't start looking into that until closer to 2006.

Let's get back to the orginal question here. Has anybody used the chopperkit and is it as easy to install as advertised? Also was the final look and performance as expected? I've looked at the kit a couple times but would like to know the thoughts of someone who's used it. I'm of the old days where I cut, installed pipe and welded to get a look. This kit though looks good if it truely gives a 8-inch, 13 degree ind result.

I used the kit from seeger cycle. Went with 10 inch over tubes. The kit was a breeze to install. I deffinately have no regrets I love the way it handles. I can blast down the highway with no hands if I want. The only drawbacks are really low speed handling....like in parking lots, and turning the bike around in the garage. Its alot longer now. I had to relocate my turn signals from the handlebars to the fork tubes and raise my speedometer up to clear the gas tank.

Here is our chopperkit +13 degrees and 8" over, fitted to a XL. Perfect steering geometry, great handling. (obviously needs a wider turning circle ) -
I sell the kits and I ride them. Done about 4000 miles on the 13 degree set up. ( never heard of 10" over though) Instals in about 4 to 6 hours depending on skill of installer and quality of workshop tools.

Here is another view -

Any questions, dont hesitate.

Too right - but that was our show bike to illustrate the stock headlamp and cowling fits on. The lower tree is pre drilled to take another headlamp if desired

I like the stock headlight on that thing! Wonder how it would look with a set of apehangers. A fork brace would come in handy too I'd bet. Looks very good!

Here are a couple of pics of my bike with the seeger kit and 10 inch over tubes. With the 10 inch extension it raised the front of the frame 1/2 inch over stock.

If it ain't long it's wrong........

I LOVE to look, but have a few problems with fitting one.

a) For those of us that have to cover the bike for any reason, you will struggle to find a cover that fits the new setup..

b) You will never fit that length into the PATHETIC parking bays allocated to bikes here in London, making you an easy target for those over-zealous parking wardens. :madtwo

So for those of you who don't have to deal with these issues, I say do it & ENJOY your chopperkits ! It sure looks like a helluva lot of fun...
