Turbota turned me on to some Mothers Mag & Aluminum cleaner/polish. I had some gold staining/discoloration on my fork sliders at the seals on my 05 1200 Custom and tried several products to get them off with no luck. After Turbota had told me his success with Mothers on his fork sliders, I went and bought me a small tin of it.

I applied a small portion on a clean terry cloth rag and the GOLD DISCOLORATIONS CAME OFF MY FORK SLIDERS AND SHINED UP LIKE BRAND NEW! It took less than 5 minutes. I also have some slight scarring from my son's shoe on my chrome pipe (by the rear peg). I allowed the pipes to cool and tried the Harley can cleaner (good on all surfaces accept rubber) and it got some of the rubber off of the chrome pipe but not the desired result that I wanted plus it was a harsh removal (slight surface scratching, nothing major at all). What the hell, I went back and got me the Mothers Chrome Polish & Cleaner and it took off the rest of the burnt rubber and also the ugly golding type dulling as well. The chrome looks good as new on the pipes.

So there are two products I will always have handy that works to a T:

1) Mothers Aluminum & Mag Cleaner/Polish.
2) Mothers Chrome Cleaner/Polish.

Great stuff! I've been using it for many years.

I bought some Mothers Billet aluminum polish it worked out great on the cast aluminum parts. Pricey though about $15. IT says on jar DO NOT USE ON CHROME

I use Mothers and have not found anything better. Works great.
