Well the contest is over and I guess I did not choose a hard enough question because just about everyone who answered the question got it right.

The question was: In 1964 Harley-Davidson marketed a line of boats. What is the name of the Harley-Davidson boat line up in 1964? You do not need all 12 models, just the one make.

And of course you all know the answer: Tomahawk.

The company continued making boats for another year under the Tomahawk name (1963 for the 1964 model year) but as 1964 rolled around, production was stopped and the plant retooled to make Saddle bags and servicar bodies. :D

But in 1964, the Harley name was added to the boats.
From what I read - Harley was actively marketing them.

Yea the way it was worded where I found it was Harley Davidson marketed the tomahawk boats under ITS OWN NAME for one year only. So I think the answer really might be Harley Davidson Boats. :D

I say this only because in my HOG club, the lady's that ride, most ride Dyna's, the Sportster's are ridden by Guy's.
Maybe were a different bunch then the norm, but really, look around at the next rally and tell me you don't see more girls riding Dyna's then Sportsters.

I think this change has come along because it used to be Guy's would buy there old lady's(I hate that term) a bike, it would be the cheapest one they could get so they could have a better BT, that, and to get them to ride on the back of there bikes, and leave the sporty at home.
Lady's have caught on to this(Cause they is smart) and have ben going along and voicing there opinions when the buying time comes along.
That, or they get there own bike, and the Dyna is the one they like.....so it seems.

It's just an observation.

The first boat I ever owned was a 1961 Tomahawk with a 40hp Evinrude Lark on it. Used to call it the Batmobile because it had those 57 Chevy wings on the back. I sold it after I got sick of rowing back to the launch with one oar and the guy I sold it to restored it then resold it. It still sits in a guys back yard about 40 miles from me.

I'll let that dude keep it. I'm trying to sell my current boat now. I've come to the conclusion I'd rather spend my free time in the summer on the bike. Boats are a PITA. I brought my boat home out of storage last spring. Changed the oil, cleaned it all out and fired her up, towed it over to the field and parked it. It hasn't moved since. Now if it doesn't sell I've got to flush it out and winterize it and put it back in storage. All for nothing!

My teenager doesn't want to go skiing or tubing with her parents anymore, so the boat sat for all but a week and a couple of days this year.
So, I am putting mine up for sale, too.

the cash from the sale will probably turn into a Low Rider for my wife next year.......
