What's wrong with using oils with detergent additives ????. I see the only difference between car oils and V-Twin formulated oils is that point. Detergents are good for engine, or not??? What's wrong using Mobil 1 gold cap 15-50, if clutch and transmission are apart, and are using other oil?

Hello Vicente José.
I have not used Mobile 1 oil, but I did search around the net and found some information that may answer your question. The information is from Mobil.
FAQs for Motorcycle Oil (http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Motorcycle_Oil_FAQs.aspx) may have the answer you seek.
Good luck.

Harley oil is loaded with detergents; Calcium and Boron. Both are in most "CI" rated oils which is the HD requirement.

I'm using Spectro Heavy Duty 20w50 now (dyno oil). It blackens less than the car oil (i.e. Castrol 20w50). Somebody is using Castrol GTX 20w50?????

Hi, Stevo:
Can I use a 15w40 CF-4 turbo diesel oil??.
Here the temperature is usually between 5ºC to 35 ºC.
I can't find 15w50 or 20w50 turbo diesel oil here...

Hi Vicente,
A guy was asking the same question on the Mexico forum. He's from Spain also and said it's difficult to get certain types of oil there.
I'm not sure how he got on but I did write to Mobil and asked about using Mobil 1 V-Twin. Mobil said that it CAN be used with no problems in the engine and primary. Just a thought.

Detergent oil for our bikes is the only way to go. I would never recommend non detergent oil for our scoots.
