I got what you would call 4, but like flathead said, some can be counted by how many times you sat down. 1 on the back 1 wrist, both arms(that's where the sitting down comes into play), and I sure I'll get more, it's a work in progress like life is. Never got one, I was too cheap when I was younger and never thought about it much after that.

One night the garage band I was in played a gig at the local fair. Afterward I got real drunk on a bottle of vodka and spent most of the evening in the tattoo guy Dick's tent watching him ink other people. I guess I'm lucky all my friends were just as cheap as me. Dick the tattoo guy's girlfriend BigTime (yea that was really her name) had a little mutt, and the next day when I was at my summer job at the poodle shop, I worked at the poodle shop giving poodles pompoms on their tails that summer, Dick showed up with BigTimes mutt to get a hairdo. BigTime was pretty psyched to get her dog all prettied up, but not enough to give me a free tat. But maybe enough to give my dog one, I dunno I can't remember much from those days. But at the time I had a puppy named Chani. About 10 years after I moved away from home and left Chani there with my parents, my mom asked out of the blue "when did you get your initials tattooed inside Chani's ear?" I had no freaking clue what she was talking about, but sure enough my initials GAJ were tattooed inside the dogs ear. To this day I have no idea how they got there and none of my old friends can remember either :confused: So does that count as one if it was on my dog?

BTW ... I always design my tats on paper. Then I leave a copy of it in my office/kitchen/living room etc. When I still like the design after 3-4 months ... I may go to the studio and then its time to get this ink under my skin ... outch!!! :D :D

They never did that much for me. They were real stylish when I lived in the UK 20 plus years ago. I remember watching the sun come up on a river one morning with a young lady intent on showing me all six of her well hidden tattoos. What a time! I did see the trend coming. Every kid in the UK had them it seemed like, and this was around 1981-1983. Didn't become real popular until the later eighties. To each their own. Have two friends who own shops. They been trying to give me free ink your years. Is a nice place to meet and see some real un-inhibited women. We used to hang out and party every Friday night quite a few years back and wait for the girls to come in and drop the clothes. They didn't mind and we didn't mind. Was kind of amazing looking back on it. Sure beat the local strip club. The liquor did seem to blend with the the tattoo scene back then, anyway. I guess things have changed a little though. Last time I stopped by the girl had a sheet covering herself up. My buddy was smilin, but he was on the outside lookin in. I must be getting old. If and when I sure want art, one of a kind type of stuff. Make em earn their money.

Once I saw those I realized the potential for real artwork through tattoos and I started thinking about getting one. Got my first one last November for my 49th birthday. Well I guess I should say two or three depending on how you look at it. I got a vampire skeleton ripping threw my right arm and a daggar wrapped around a chinese symbal on the left arm. It looks like two tats but the daggar and the symbal are two diffrent tats got them at completly diffrent times, diffrent places, and about two years apart or so. The symbal me and my brother got matching ones toghether before I deployed and I decided I wanted something else there besides just a little symbal. So I picked a daggar that said No Fear in the middle of it which was good because my symbal means fear.

My brother tattooed himself on the ankle with a needle and bottle of india ink. Claims that if it was seen in Japan, he would be immediately arrested. He never did tell what it meant.

none yet, back in the day... most i saw didn't impress me all that much (late '60's to late '70's) artwork just wasn't all that good. Now artwork seems to be much better but still deciding and they cost a hell of alot more $$$$$ (for anything good that is). we'll see still want one, though. :luvsport

i've got both arms sleeved.

as an aside, does anybody else who has visible tattoos have to cover them for their job? i work for a company that sells and services forklifts and other heavy equipment, and i have to wear long sleeves year round. according to my boss, customers might be offended by seeing tattoos.........didn't know people in warehouses really paid attention to the guy doing preventitive maintenance on their batteries, but who am i.

Just added two more. A large black and grey rose with my daughters name on the upper part of my left arm. I also got a black and grey nautical star on my left elbow. I'll be getting one having to do with my son on the inside of my left arm. Since that part of the arm will almost be completely covered, I'm pretty sure I'll turn it into a half sleeve.

Got my first one at seventeen, after getting drunk with a bunch of bikers. My Dad hit me so hard, he knocked me from the living room clear into the dining room. People always told me I would regret it. Well, I am now 56, and I am still getting them. I am fully sleeved on both arms and shoulders, both shoulder blades are covered, as well as chest on both sides, and I've started on my legs. It's not that I'm addicted to them so much as I enjoy the way they look and every one of them signifies something personal to me. When my wife got her first tattoo at age 45, one of the things I told her is that she would quickly discover who the judgemental people were. She finds that the way people react to her tattoos tells her a lot about what sort of people they are. There's a saying among tattooed people that goes, "The only difference between people who have tattoos and people who don't have tattoos is that people who have tattoos don't care if you don't have tattoos."

i have two sleeves, heres one arm the other arm is halfway done. Alot of color, these are 10 years old the color has stayed well. It goes up onto my back, yes my elbow is covered also that was not pleasant.

Mine is a very unusual circumstance....

I have 3 total, however, 1 was..

Outlined in Fresno Ca
Blue color added in Hawaii.
Red color added in Japan
yellow added in Singapore (faded now)
White added in Hong Kong....

While most of my "NAVY" buddies got one in the ports listed above, i just kept adding to mine....

i only have one. i have the COHIBA cigar label on my left arm (hell, everyone knows me as "Cuban" anyways). im not too big on the cultural flag tattoo's - no problem with them, but not on me. everyone has their cultural flags and icons and such.........how many people have a Cuban cigar label.......
