The Buell Demo Trailer was in town yesterday and I was able to ride a few Buells. I rode the CityX, XB12R Firebolt, Lightning Long XB12Ss, and the Ullysses. The rides were in a group, but were aproximately 12 miles which included a few tight, and decreasing radius turns. Someone had crashed a XB12cg before I got there. Each Buell had a very distinct feel and ride.

The CityX was the first; it was fun to ride, but felt under-powered compared to my Sportster. It is good at what it was designed for though. I didn't get to rev it very tight due to the nature of the ride, which could have made it feel a little quicker.

Next, I rode the Lightning Long. This was my favorite, and also the favorite of most of the riders in the group. It felt just comfy enough to ride a little distance and still be able to have a some fun.

The Ullyesses: the air gets a little thin at that altitude. Once the feet hit the pegs, it is a fun ride. I lifted the front wheel a bit crossing a set of railroad tracks even though we were told to not wheelie; it was an accident. :banana It is a bit like a Duck out of water for most of my riding, but could be a fun motorcycle to own for someone with longer legs.

My last of the Buell rides was on the Firebolt; the most agressive feeling of the bunch. It was my last ride so I lifted the front wheel a few times, which it did with ease. The XB12R felt quick and easily carved the corners, but I couldn't wait to get off of it: My shoulder hurt and I am just too old or too soft for it.

It was a fun day if you get the chance the demo trailer in town check it out.
One thing I noticed after riding all of the Buells is how well my 1200 Roadster runs. I also rode an 05 Dyna Sport my friend was trying to get me to buy, but that is for another thread, or not...
