for the '04 that doesn't require using the shorter seat? I already have the HD touring seat and I love it, but it just doesn't look right with the small tank. I realized what I'd done, after I'd already bought and installed the seat, but I've been hanging on to the hope that somebody in the aftermarket would make a tank that fits.
Thanks,
Tony

Is the touring seat for a custom or roadster? If it's for a custom, the larger custom tank will fit.

It's an '04 XL883 Std.
Thanks,

I was under the impression that the seats for the models with the big tank are about an inch shorter than the seats for the peanut tank bikes. That's what I'm getting at. If I get a stock big tank, I'll have to buy a new (shorter) seat to go with it. Since I've already shelled out the coin for the touring seat that fits with the small tank, I was hoping that somebody had started making an aftermarket tank that would work with the (longer) seat made for the small tank.
I'm confusing myself now...

some of the larger tanks especially the stretched versions have a scallop so that the tank fits around the front of the seat

If you're looking into using the '04 Custom tank, then the (52112-04) Touring seat, shown above, will work just fine.

Ok, I was under the impression that 52112-04 wouldn't work with the Custom tank. I was afraid I'd have to buy the touring seat (52109-04) that's made for the Custom if I wanted to use that tank. That's why I was asking about aftermarket tanks.
Thanks for the help!

I'm sorry, I misspoke. It is the 52109-04 that my wife has on her 883 Custom. Sorry for the missinformation.

Try looking athttp://www.fattank.com
This is the MAC-DADDY of fat tanks.

Kind of makes the sportster look like a BT
wannabe. Keep the stock tank, gives you
more time to stop and meet some kool people
at each gas stop. :yikes

Those are some nice looking tanks! They didn't say anything about what years/models they would fit though. I guess I'll just have to contact them.
Thanks,
Tony
