That's a KILLER, old school evo bobber! I prefer flattrack style bars on my bikes, but the apes look real good on that one. Real spokes and flatter bars and it would be PERFECT for me. But, I'm sure it's perfect for you as is! Congrats on that killer bike!

thanks,y'all!

The springer seat is REALLY comfy.. was kinda surprised.

the bike got it's final bit yesterday - shortened chrome heatshields with holes drilled out - looks great! Makes the exhaust look like machine gun barrels.

Man, I can't thank the guys at my local indy enough.

Hey Chopper,

You did a nice job on TNsportster's bike and I'm getting real close to getting a spring seat, but Lick's is a supporting vendor of this site and I'll keep my buisness with those that help support my interests. If you want to advertise here then you ought to try to support the site.

Those spikes have a very useful purpose. They are great for keeping that special girl friend from slidding off. Cheaper than a sissy bar and side plates, althoug just a little uncomfortable.:laugh

Gary, will do my best to try to support the site, just found ya'll a couple of days ago. My bad on the thoghtless attempt at advertising, just wanted to make myself available for answering any ?'s regarding the "Bob Job".

Gary
12th January 2005, 03:49
Hey no big problem Chopper, you just gotta realise that this site costs Bert a lot of money to maintain. He put's in a lot of hours with no compensation to keep it here for all of us and the supporting vendor program is one of the small ways that he has to pay the overhead of renting the server space. So when someone from outside comes in and tries to use the forum to advertise, we need to stop that otherwise the forum goes away.

BTW: Thats a kick ass Sporty that you guys built !!!

One great retro chopper. In fact, one of the best I've seen. The bars aren't me and I gotta have a pillion pad (ya never know) but it's great. Congrats.

Great looking sled! I am very interested in that seat but am concerned that it might not be comfy enough over long distances. You mentioned that it is really comfortable. Are we talking tank to tank, all day kind of comfort or a relaxed Sunday ride kind of comfortable?

havent rode for a full tank (i'd run out of land :laugh )
but 150kays (90mins) on a boring straightish highway was no problem.
(burnie - launceston)
i find the more scenic up and down highways with more curves and bends seem to be more comfortable again.
maybe its shifting the body rather than sitting in one place.

cheers

I'd say it's an "all day" comfort - BUT - I USED to bicyle road race, and spent years riding over 100 miles several days a week on 2inch wide, 7 ounce saddle, so I have a different perspective and a hard rear end!

Seriously, though, it IS a great seat!

Hey Evade!
I know your bike! :clap
I saw pics of it from last years' smoke out online and I copied it to my desktop - it was my wallpaper for about six months! Saw it also on sportster.org and posted on backtalk by pilot.

Your bike is one of my all-time favorite sportsters, and was an inspiration for the direction I took with mine.

I came within a hairs breadth of using struts like yours, and may yet switch over. How's the ride?

Are you doing the smokeout again this year? I'm staying at the Ramada on Friday night.

Great bike -
Rob

I hope I'm not over stepping any boundries and if you don't want to answer that's fine.

I was wondering what a job like this costs start to finish. Sorry is this has been asked already.
You got a sweet bike man.
I'm going this route with mine for sure....
