Smoke coming off the breather filter? What is this?

I just put on a Hurricane Flow AC, which is awesome, and I noticed that the breather filter seems to be misting or smoking lightly and it smells a bit like gas. I am wondering if anyone knows if this is normal or if I got something wrong?

a little white smoke is ok, mine does it

before you put the breather kit on, your heads most likely vented into the AC and you just probably never noticed it as it gets sucked back into the carb
