For years I was thinking The Lorax, but I may have moved beyond that idea in my life and I already have a hippie-too - perhaps something to do with marine life, the ocean - that's where I've left my heart - but really a Skull will be my fall back plan - really. ;)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer

Contratulations on 10,000, but that original poem is to esoteric for me. Please interpret.

It's a soliloqy (sp?) - the final words of A Midsummer Night's Dream (there's an excellent movie version) where one of the characters (a sort of narrator character) asks forgivness on the part of the author for his rantings. He suggests that if one did not like the rantings that you give them no more weight than a passing dream. Sort of an admittance of how unimportant they really are in the big scheme of things. And a promise to try and do better next time.

Ah, Kev, you do yourself and Shakespeare much honor in quoting what I would say is a quite fitting soliloquy from that play. In fact, I think you kinda look like Robin Goodfellow...hhmmmm...

The Kevin Kline version (http://imdb.com/title/tt0140379/) is excellent, though my favorite usage of that play is in Dead Poets Society, one of my favorite films.

WELL, I'M BACK - again

Thursday and Friday we rode down to Annapolis and Williamsburg respectively under sunny skies and 70F and 80F weather.

Had a great weekend down there - Jenn did quite well in the competition (as usual).

We left Williamsburg last night under cloudy threatening skies and 60F weather but it was below 50F by the time we stopped for the night.

A couple more hours of cold 40-50F riding got us home this morning.

A mere 600 miles on each of the bikes, but it was a good time.

The Breva is nicely broken-in now (I guess that was my first road trip on it) and I'm quite pleased with how she ran. Averaged about 40 mpg (though I was getting less this morning running into some serious headwinds).

Jenn's bike (forgot to check the mileage) is running nicely. We forgot to check the engine temperatures on Thurs/Frid until after we'd stopped the bike (I notice the temp in the tank sometimes quickly drops 10-15F when you shut the bike down) - HOWEVER that said, when we did check it at a stop (like after fueling) it was reading only 200F!!!!!

We remembered to check it yesterday and today. Even though the ambients were lower, it still was quite reassuring to note the temp was about 200-205 at idle (even after about 100 miles at varied speeds without stopping).

PLUS mileage seemed to be in the 44-46 mpg range, which would also be an improvement -

SOOOOOOOOOOO we are thinking that perhaps Tech Tip 328 (I think that was the number) may have indeed had a positive affect on both temperatures and mileage.

More reports to come as we get time to ride this spring.

Colin - as I've said - I write for a living ;)

Grind - thanks man - I might have to take you up on that, especially since the old Alpinestars seem to be falling apart at the stitching.

Hear the voice of the Bard!
Who Present, Past, & Future, sees;
Whose ears have heard
The Holy Word
That walk'd among the ancient trees,

Calling the lapsed Soul,
And weeping in the evening dew;
That might controll
The starry pole,
And fallen, fallen lights renew!

"O Earth, O Earth, Return!
Arise from out the dewy grass;
Night is worn,
And the morn
Rises from the slumbering mass.

"Turn away no more;
Why wilt thou turn away?
The starry floor,
The wat'ry shore,
Is giv'n thee till the break of day."

Do you mean a tale from a Good Bard or a Good Tale from a Bard?

Or maybe Bofff

Either way, sitting at your computer long enough for 10,000...no, wait...15,000 posts will turn you into a bard-ass.

:p

PS, does the Powerlift Chair company make aftermarket seats for Sportsters?

Hmm...oddly, it seems like every woman I sleep with gets progressively younger relative to my age, yet I still feel like a guy who is losing out on my youth cause I can't seem to find one woman of any age who will hang in there with me for the long, adventurous ride into the sunset. Being an unwilling bachelor makes me feel old.

Anyway, I spend too much time typing on this blasted addictive forum too, and I'm NO WHERE NEAR as prolific as you. My hat is off to someone who must draw their life force from burnt hydrocarbons, scuffed rubber, the words of Shakespeare, the handiwork of Bill Gates (or Wozniak and Jobs?) and the love of a good woman, cause you sure as heck can't have time to eat or sleep.

I just found this thread. Congrats on reaching 15000 Kev. I do enjoy your posts -you can pretty much always be relied upon to stir things up a bit.:D

Here's one of my favourite passages to add to the celebration of the Bard that this thread seems to have become - from Henry V, after the French ambassadors have presented him with a gift of tennis balls from the Dauphin, implying that he is too young to consider war, and should stick to playing games. You can sense the growing menace...

We are glad the Dauphin is so pleasant with us.
His present, and your pains, we thank you for.
When we have matched our rackets to these balls,
We will in France, by God's grace, play a set,
Shall strike his father's crown into the hazard.
Tell him he hath made a match with such a wrangler
That all the courts of France will be disturbed
With chases. And we understand him well,
How he comes o'er us with our wilder days,
Not measuring what use we made of them.
We never valued this poor seat of England,
And therefore, living hence, did give ourself
To barbarous licence; as 'tis ever common
That men are merriest when they are from home.
But tell the Dauphin I will keep my state,
Be like a king, and show my sail of greatness,
When I do rouse me in my throne of France.
For that I have laid by my majesty,
And plodded like a man for working-days;
But I will rise there with so full a glory
That I will dazzle all the eyes of France,
Yea strike the Dauphin blind to look on us.
And tell the pleasant Prince this mock of his
Hath turned his balls to gunstones, and his soul
Shall stand sore chargèd for the wasteful vengeance
That shall fly with them: for many a thousand widows
Shall this his mock mock out of their dear husbands;
Mock mothers from their sons, mock castles down;
And some are yet ungotten and unborn
That shall have cause to curse the Dauphin's scorn.
But this all lays within the will of God,
To whom I do appeal, and in whose name,
Tell you the Dauphin, I am coming on,
To venge me as I may, and to put forth
My rightful hand in a well-hallowed cause.
So get thee hence in peace; and tell the Dauphin
His jest will savour but of shallow wit
When thousands more weep than did laugh at it.

Not looking for congrats - I just have a job that allows me to do it...

Again, see job - that makes up most of it.

I saw this thread resurrection in my inbox and thought WTF, is he harping on 10,000 posts again. I had already been through this, and offered my own congratulations. Now I discover that you have 5000 more posts in less than a year, and I once more find myself contemplating poetry on the XL Forum as a result of your 15,000 milestone.

Congrats again Kev, and please forgive if my poetic contribution is slightly profane, but I can only say that posting now, I feel like Gary Snyder wrote about Hiking in Totsugawa Gorge, I am just:
