anyone running LED lights? I bought one for my tail/stoplight, to replace the stock 1157, installed it and it won't work (get brighter) when brakes are applied. just stays the same. put old 1157 back in and works fine. wonder what it can be. tested LED with 9 v battery and both systems work.(dim and bright) thanks.

some of these LED's they have need a load equilizer to function properly. maybe you should check into the led you bought maybe look at the companies web site and see if they say anything about it. also if you are buying the led that has the 1157 connector and then has a cirlcle at the end that has something like 9-14 led's in it. make sure you like the brightness of them. I bought these for my car and unless a person was directly behind me it was very hard to see the light from the led's at all so i put the stock ones back in. they sell a led upgrade kit that fits into the tail light that is the same width and height of the tail light and has much more led's in that is much brighter and easier to see.

You shouldn't need a load equalizer for the stop/tail light. Check to make sure your getting a good clean connection on both contacts in the base of the socket.

Had a set on mine for a while, & they are generally just plug-&-play. No equalizers neccesary.

I'd have to say there's a connectivity issue in the bulb housing... if it works with a 9V battery, it should work on the bike. Maybe that LED bulb just isn't making contact in the 1157 bulb housing.

The one thing I dislike about LEDs is their propensity to be not seen very well from the side. I'm all about visibility.

Being a shop owner I've sold a lot of LED bulbs and found that there are a lot of crappy ones available and have trouble with many of them myself. Had the same problem and found the base just wasn't any good on a few brands of them. If going to the LED bulb request one from a reputable manufacturer like HiTech, theirs also have better side visibility!!

I got a plug-and-play tail lite assembly from HeavyCycles (http://www.heavycycles.com/) and have been very impressed by its brightness. This is the brightest LED tail light I've seen and is lots brighter than the stock tail/brake light. I do realize that LEDs are directional, and I can't say exactly how these compare with the stock lite from the side, but from behind the bike it is very bright. It was, indeed, a simple plug-and-play and has worked just fine.

Sorta by mistake, I ordered the model with built-in turn signals. Unless you want to do away with the usual turn signals, I don't think the built-ins do any good and they cost more. They're not as visible as the usual turn signals.
