View Full Version : XR 1200 Specs Available
Folkie 11th January 2008, 09:49 Although the XR 1200 isn't on the H-D web sites as a production model yet, I've discovered that the spec sheets do exist, including a US one! Here they are:
UK Specs (http://www.harley-davidson.com/PR/MOT/2008/08_specs_print.asp?locale=en_GB&bmLocale=en_GB&dwp=&market=GB&family=sp&model=xr1200&modelsection=specs&measureCheck=English&specTable=showall)
US Specs (http://www.harley-davidson.com/PR/MOT/2008/08_specs_print.asp?locale=en_US&bmLocale=en_US&dwp=&market=US&family=sp&model=xr1200&modelsection=specs&measureCheck=English&specTable=showall)
Apparently, it'll have chrome staggered shorty duals. The UK model will have laced wheels; in the US these'll be an option.
Edit: don't take too much notice of this; apparently it's a red herring.
augh1 11th January 2008, 10:17 If you take a look to colors and weight you realize there must be something wrong. Augh.
EGNBLU 11th January 2008, 10:45 Great digging there Folkie.

It's only for Europe and the East for a start is mentioned.
No pics of spoke wheels on website and the Specs are not for the XR 1200
Look at the lean angles, Exhausts and weight. I think someone has cobbled together a spec sheet and it is for an incorrect model. If it comes with shorty duals perhaps it's not a "XR" at all but the replacement for the "R"

Folkie 11th January 2008, 12:54 Are we sure what the weight or lean angle of the bike will be?
Perhaps it's a 'work in progress'; starting off with the spec sheet for another model, but they haven't finished amending it yet. Perhaps not.
At least the existence of the US spec sheet suggests that release in the US is contemplated sooner rather than later.

Those can't be correct specs. Look at the wheel sizes - 19" front and 16" rear - these are for another Sporty. The XR spec is for 120/70-18" front and 180/55-17" rear. And the XR has 6-spoke (split 3-spoke) wheels, not laced as noted on the UK spec sheet or 13 spoke ally as noted on the US spec sheet.
Also, the range of colour options given is incorrect - as far as I know, it's limited to orange or black for the XR.

Looking at the pics on the website it is being sold as a sportier model with sports bike lean angles.
It should be near to being finalised but as you said elsewhere those pipes have to be supported from the engine. Perhaps a suitable mount is being hard to engineer with reliability and economy.
Wherever it's to be released first I bet loads of pre orders have been cancelled to buy another brand, A killing could have been made if it came out on time.
Keep us up to date with any other gems you glean from the web or elsewhere.:clap
steelworker 11th January 2008, 13:45 I just phoned my nearest dealer (Black Bear in Newmarket). They don't have a date yet for when they'll get any XR1200's in, but said "probably not before April".
Folkie 11th January 2008, 13:49 Those can't be correct specs … these are for another Sporty.Damn! And I thought I'd unearthed something interesting. :dammit
Moved On / My Own Choice 11th January 2008, 16:57 Yeah, my guess is one of the geeks was getting a template ready for XR specs and started with the XL1200R, and didn't change much...
Also - Folkie - no we don't have any idea of lean angles or weights yet.
Todd31de 11th January 2008, 18:04 Let's over analyze this. It does say US specs for 2008 model year. It may show up at the begining of the summer. I know the price is wrong but that would be nice.

I dunno, but summertime they're wrapping up model year production and preparing for the 09s...
I'm just saying.
Personally, my dealer thought we'd have seen it in the US for a Jan 08 intro, but that was assuming it hadn't been delayed in Europe for 6 months or more like it has now.

Good point. I am going to the show in DC tomorrow and I'll ask every Harley rep there just to be a pain in the ass. :D

augh1 12th January 2008, 10:28 Please ask which is the real weight!!! TX Augh.
steelworker 12th January 2008, 10:54 List price for the UK is £7,655. No indication of weight, yet.
whittlebeast 12th January 2008, 13:51 I am fairly shure that the front calipers are a pair or 4 piston.
