Anybody keep their bike In their house? It really sucks because I live In
a little townhouse kind of thing with no garage. I keep a cover On my bike but
alot of the time It's outside. When the Hurricanes or real bad weather comes through I pull It into my kitchen. (which my wife loves) :wifemad
Is there many Of You folks out there that has had to deal with this?
I'm sick of my baby bein' out there all alone In the elements So I think
next month I can finally afford to get an out building for Her.
My motorcyle that Is, My wife stays In The House. :D
Is there any good companies that make good sheds for that kinda thing at
good prices or resources for building One? Everything I can find is For lawn
equipment and doesn't have the depth to fit a sporty.
Until then I have my vicious guard dog "Foxy" to protect my bike In the house.

Man I use to Chain mine to the gas main to my house. I put a bike cover over it and then a blue tarp and tied the tarp down. I couldnt sleep half the time, always thought i was hearing something out there. And it was such a drag whenever I wanted to go for a ride, it was a lot of work to get it out then put it back away. :dammit
But I moved and have a garage now :clap

I'd be sick too. I brought it inside in '73. I can still hear her saying... "you're doing what?".

We keep our bikes in our basement for the Winter, where we are tearing down my Electra Glide and the '72 Ironhead.
What, you don't have a basement? Geeesh!
Sorry... :frownone

I'd bring her inside. I'm sure the wife has a few things in the house that you'd rather not have. Try convincing her your sportster is like a sculpture. If the the bike is all she has to worry about, she's doing allright. A friend of mine keeps his Softtail and RK in the house, despite having plenty of garage space. He can't stand the idea of his bikes being "exposed" to the elements of his garage.

Mine sleeps outside under a cover & chained to a lamppost. (WOULD bring it inside, but living on the 1st floor would make it kinda tricky). Had a nasty incident 2months ago when someone backed into it & knocked it over, then tried to pick it up & not realising what's under the cover & how heavy it is, tipped it over the other side as WELL! :censor It's fixed now, but still living under the same cover outside...

I do not have a garage so use a out building (Handi House). Built a ramp to drive it up in. No way is my wife going to allow it in the house.

Used to keep it in the garage but discovered, pleasantly, that she actually fit through the door into my heated, nicely lighted and spacious shop! She's warm, the tools are close by so she can floss her spokes whenever she wants, there's a frig and a microwave so she can keep her fluids at comfy temps, and there is a TV so she can keep up with her soaps. When spring arrives, she'll have to exercise a bit to shed the winter pounds, but she'll be smiling the whole time...

Mine rest in a dedicated spot in the gameroom. Great looking "furniture". I actually sat on mine watching the playoffs yesterday. Too cold to ride, but a great seat for the games.

Just for my own peace of mind, do you have door access to this basement or are you bringing these things down a staircase? I know the answer should be obvious but I have seen stranger things.

It was cold enough last night where I lost feeling in my legs after about 1.5 hours. haha. I dropped the sporty right in front of some cops at a bar for that very reason. I was thinking, "Oh great." haha. They left me alone though. hehe.
I got home and thawed; all is well.

My Mistress as my wife calls it.
Stays in the locked alarmed garage. But when a recent work project dicated The need for more garage space and I didn't need her covered in saw dust.
She went inside, nice, safe, dry and warm.
Wife came home looked at her, looked at me and said.
Your Fukin nuts.

It stays in the garage. Barley enough room for it. It is parked behind a truck by another motorcycle. But if I can't park it there it is to the barn with it. Dirt floor, but at least I can lock the barn and it stays dry.

Keep an eye out for post holliday clearance sales at the big box home centers (Home Despot). Look to pick up a pre-fab "demo" yard shed and modify it to fit your bike. Think spring!

Check out this shed at Costo. I have one for lawn equipment. (So the bike would fit in the garage) But the cool thing is, it goes up in a snap and you can get extensions for it to make it as long as you want. I just measured mine, and I don't see getting a Sporty in it without buying an extension. That means you would need the basic shed and one extension (about $550 for both) to give you about 4 ½ft X 10ft. It’s weather proof and has a spot for a padlock on the door. And it never needs painting.
Just throwing out an option….

I picked up an Arrow 10 x 14 metal building at Lowes for $364 then I built my own floor out of 2 x 8 and 3/4 plywood sturdy as hell and plenty of room.

I was lucky enough to find a 8'x10' wooden shed that a lady was selling cause she split up w/her live-in boyfriend for 500.00. It was already stained, has a work bench and shelves in it and a shingled roof. My lawnmower ,yard tools and some other crap are on one side and w/the ramp I made my Sporty rolls right into the other side w/ about an inch of clearance to shut the two doors and then she can be locked up nice & tight. I do keep a Harley cover on her to reduce the dust as well. These sheds(kits)are available at most Lowes or Home Depots for about the same price or sometimes lower. You just need to be handy with a saw & hammer. The good thing w/these types of sheds is they dont cunduct as much heat as a metal shed(reduces condensation) and w/an optional window(mine has one) you can keep some air flowing to keep the fumes down. Highly recommended. :smoke

One of my dad's old friends down in South Florida kept all of his bikes(like 10 of them) in his living room. Actually, his room was more like a showroom with every bike being too clean! Some of the bikes that I can remember are Kawi KZ1000, Kawi ZX-11, 1992 or 93 Sportster 883, some Italian single cylinder harley, Yamaha RZ 350?, and a few others that i can't remember.
