Hi all!

I have just discovered this community whilst looking for some parts for my 2001 1200S. For background info - I have just returned to biking after a 15 year abstinence - its good to be back!

I am based in the UK and have had no luck in tracking down the parts that I would like to fit to my bike.

I am looking for some rearsets, a 2:1 exhaust an a decent seat.

I like the look of the seat from the 883R - does anyone know if this would fit a 1200S?

Also where can I source rearsets and a 2:1 exhaust in the UK? - does this forum have a classifieds section - I could not see/access one.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Regards

Neil

Hi Neil! :welcome to the forum!

Do you have a specific 2:1 that you are looking for? Anything that you've seen that you like? Supertrapp is a popular one for the performance aspect but you will also pay quite a bit for it. There are places that make rearsets for the sporster and someone here will know where to get them. Yes the 883R seat will fit the 2001 1200S. We have a classifieds section but we just had an upgrade this morning and everything is not back up yet...check back tomorrow...it's on the left hand side of the main page.

Hey Nobbyy, I can't help you with your questions, but I will welcome you to the forum:clap and back into the saddle. Toss out some pics of your bike when you get a chance, and don't say "whilst" anymore, that's why we kicked you people out of our country in the first place :sofa .

Wow - thanks for the super quick response!

I have seen the supertrap exhaust but have not found a UK dealer as yet.

I will look forward to the classified section coming back up as I am working to a very tight budget.

Once again thanks for the swift and warm welcome.

You guys sure are helpful - I wish I had discovered this site ages ago!

To meet the request of posting a pic of my bike - can you explain how I do this - does the picture need to be hosted elsewhere?

Will probably have to sign off soon - it is now 3.02am and my wifes patience will not last forever!

Once again thank you for your help so far.

OK - I have uploaded a pic onto the site - under Nobbyys 1200s - can I now "pull" it through into this forum? If so how please.

Right click on the picture, select properties, copy the pictures url and paste that url in your post using the insert image button.

Welcome to the XL BTW:tour

There's a little button above where you write your message. It's yellow and has a picture of a little mountain. (I think)
press that and insert the url in the window that pops up.
That way the picture will be seen without the need for clicking the link.

Any time buddy. Glad I could help.

Woohoo!! - worked that time!

As you can see from the pic - the bike needs some work to give it the cafe racer look - particularly at the back end to slim it down.

As stated earlier I would like to fit a 883R seat, a siamese 2:1 exhaust, some rearsets, a different rear mudguard (with laydown license holder), smaller indicators and maybe some billet yokes when funds allow.

The front mudguard also needs lowering to accomodate the 18" front wheel.

If anyone can help with sourcing any second hand parts any help would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone - it really is time to go to bed now (3.55am in the UK)!

Goodnight.

Neil

Welcome aboard. Crossroads performance has a good looking set of rearsets which might suit, try this link:

Welcome. I'm using rear-sets made by "chainsikle". Good value and nice workmanship.

What rims are you using? Is the rear still 16"? I'm curious about the handling, bike looks nice.

Thanks for all of the responses - you guys know how to make someone feel welcome!

While I love the look of the Storz and the Crossroads rearsets ,my budget would not stretch that far - I will probably go for the chainsikle ones - unless I can track down some secondhand ones.

In respnse to Marco883's question, the rear wheel is standard 16" and given my relative recent inexperience in riding I do not think that I could comment authorativly on the handling, exept to say that i feel fine.

Keep your suggestions coming.
