I went to a 11" and changed mine.. On the stock stand it sat up almost vertical!!! Had to be careful where I parked it!!!:D
You can get a replacement from V-twin!! Got mine on eBay!! :clap

You guy's with 11" shocks, are you still able to carry a passenger? Any clearance issues with the license plate bolts contacting the tire? I am thinking of having mine cut down to 11.5. Hope this doesn't :hijack this thread. Just had some more questions along the same subject.

I sport the 11" and am quite happy. It doesn't seem to be kicking the crap out of my wife either.

i put the 11" progressive on mine and the dealer told me that they adjusted the kickstand for me. the bike does lean more now than when i had the stock shocks with the lowering kit on it. so i looked underneath to see what they may have done. i figured they probably heated up the kickstand and bent it a little upward but there is no signs of the chrome being heated up( figured i would have seen some blue rings wear it was heated up which happens to metals sometimes). and then i checked to make sure they did not take the base of the kick stand off and re-weld it back to the frame but that looks the same as well. i don't know what they did if they did anything but the bike does lean ok. they must have done something though because now if i don't push the kickstand directly down it gets stuck on something and i have to fiddle with it to get it to go down. i will have to put it on the lift to be able to see more on what they may have done. I did buy the shorter kickstand but the guy told me to return it so i did.

I thought the stock shock length for the 04 Customs was 11.75"
I figure that going to an 11" would not need a different stand. Please correct me if I am wrong on that.

I don't know about the kickstand, but you may have clearance issues with a few things... wiring under the fender, bolts on the struts etc., even the belt guard. I'm not sure what stock is on an '04 custom, but on my '01 it was 11.5"

10's? Can you do that? Is there clearance enough for that?

I don't know about the kickstand, but you may have clearance issues with a few things... wiring under the fender, bolts on the struts etc., That is exactly what I was wondering. Mine is pretty tight in there as it is with the 11's.
BTW, I, too, need to adjust my kickstand.

I put progressive 412 11" shocks on the rear along with White Bros. 2" lowering kit on the front. I lowered the front belt guard bracket 1/2", but didn't touch the kick stand.

I installed a set of 11" - 412 Progressives yesterday (01/11/05) and my first ride after installing the shocks (an easy 20 min. job) was to my local stealership to get the part # for the Hugger jiffy stand (50072-92). (I'm going to look around for a better price before I order a 76 dollar jiffy stand from the dealer.)
Now, I am not 100% sure about the '04 models (completely different frame) but on my '03 custom with the 11" shock it now has less lean on the stand (almost vertical) and I believe this is true for the '04 too.
I'm not going to say that you NEED a different stand but I would recommend that you do or be extremely careful when and where you park your bike. It seems it could tip to the right fairly easy now with just a little persuasion from an accidental bump or something like that.

if you want to go down to 10" and you won't mind a hard ride try to look for a 10" strut. if the wire's and bolts don't rub with the strut you won't have to worry about anything but a sore but unless you have a pretty thick seat.

Yeah, let us all know; I wouldn't mind a lower ride. Would be good topic in the Suspension area of Sportster Tech Talk. ;)
On www.lickscycles.com, you can get struts to replace your shocks for those wanting the rigid ride. I'll keep shocks. hehe.

well guys,i just got done talking to AJ at licks. he said that i can use the 10" shocks with no clearence issues at all. i also told him that i do alot of 2 up riding. he told me that he would revalve the shocks to be alittle stiffer, the ride will be allittle rougher but i told the mrs to deal with it.well kinda. i have 2 seats one comfy and the stock one. so as soon as i get the money i will be getting it. thanks for all your input and advice.

Wow, they must be just missing the nuts and wires under the fender then. hehe. I may get them too. Let me know how they work for you....or if I get them first, I will let you know. ;)
