Ugly though it may be, I have a thing for stock paint from days gone by. Anyone know what year this old beauty came from?

I would guess around 74 becuase of the AMF decal and the petcock style.

Nope, not a '74. This is '74 styling:

Maybe it's a '73?

Thinking about it, it would pretty much have to be a '73, wouldn't it? '72 didn't have an AMF Sportster (if I'm not mistaken), and '77 was just the Harley Davidson name (with AMF).

69 was the first year amf but 73 was the first year they labeled them AMF

I'm thinking that the top tank is a 73 by the simple design but don't quote me on that , its just a guess

obviosly a forgery, everyone knows that the first amf tagged harley was 73 (at least thats the info I've been able to find ;) )

who knows might be a late 72 , harley was known to do prodution changes mid year and not advertise the change till the new year model change
