View Full Version : Where we are! Put yourself on the Map.

Carl-04XL

Hey guys and gals. I found a new way for us to 'see' where we are, on a map that is. Check out this link:
http://www.risingconcepts.com/frapper/xlforum
and add yourself.
We'll be able to see who is close to who, or not as the case may be...
Oh, the link works best with IE. Unfortunately, Firefox doesn't seem to read/render the map graphics correctly.

For you Virginia regional forum members, I've also posted this info there.

Oh, and I used Firefox 1.07 and had no problem viewing or adding myself to the map!

edit: Folks I think this would be awesome as a sticky in the "organize a ride out, find a riding buddy" section, so Carl, I'm going to go ahead and put it there.

Hey Paulieb, I see you live in Bever Dam. Ever see a flabby long hair riding this:

If you see him, his name is Flatty and he's AWOL from the XLF. Tell him to get his sh!t together and let us know how he's doing. Thanks Dude.

Very COOL.

Doesn't work w/ the newest firefox

I am using the latest validated Firefox which is v 1.0.7, and I put myself on the map no problems.

Jimbo, I believe this section (Find a riding buddy...) is the proper category for this sticky. PM Bert if you think there may be a more appropriate section. Thx

13th October 2005, 17:39
Tried again for the third time and now it loads....my bad. After the first two attempts I just switched over to IE and it loaded right up. It does seem to work w/ either one, thanks for the clarification.

Its good that it has the list too because eventually some of the smaller states may become overwhelmed with "pins" and you won't be able to tell one from another....like Maryland/New Jersey, etc.

The person who has the login password can edit users, and can edit it to show the world instead of just the U.S.
I just created a test map to see how it works. I don't see a way to alphabetize the user list, but I only messed around for about a minute.

Ken Man Do

I created a test map too. Couldn't edit myself.
Anyone can zoom all the way out, and see the whole world. Where are the Aussies?
Also, you can click and drag to anywhere in the world.

After you sign on to the map, zoom in on your marker and see how close you are to your actual address. if you zoom in enough it will show street names, local landmarks and stuff like that. this is probably the easiest online road map i have seen of the U.S.

Mine ended up being about 1-2 miles off.

Gary
14th October 2005, 04:10
It kept telling me that my zipcode was invalid. Well I know it's not invalid because everybody in the freaking village hangs out at the post office to gossip. So I put my work zipcode in and it liked that.

Mines a couple of miles off as well Kevin.....it shows me living in the center of the lake which is our local reservoir! Then again, we are only giving it a zip code not a street address so probably none of them will show peoples actual street.

Maybe Carl can alphabetize the list. I do see a link that says Customize your Group but is has a passworded login.

Care to give it a shot Carl?

I looked and there isn't a alphabetize option available yet. :(
-Basic Options:
--Group Info:
---Description
(I added " Harley-Davidson Sportster enthusiasts from around the world.")
---Sharing
(I checked 'Add XLForum to Frapper's Public Directory')

--Startinig Location:
---Zip Code (nothing put here)
---Zoom Level (changed to '13(World)' )

--Group Pic: (I should get a good 'representative' Sportster pic for here. 1.5Mb max. Maybe the XLForum logo?)

-Edit Members
(I can remove members, but not change order.)

-Edit Comments
(Same with members comments, just remove only.)

It is still only a 'beta' product. I'll try to see if the webmaster/author can add more options. :)

When you leave Korea, where are you going? Or, do you know yet?

Oh btw, when you leave and get to where ever, let my know and I'll remove you from the XL Forum frappr!, seeing as I'm the admin. Then you can add yourself for your new location.

Carl-04XL
20th January 2006, 16:12
Well, Sport-Ed asked for some assistance. He wanted to have an old frappr ballon removed so that his new one wouldn't conflict. DONE.

You, boys and gals, can also have your frappr ballon edited. Sport-Ed opened a frappr account (Not hard, I did it myself just now. Trying to see if I can update my profile on our map with that info without having to add a new one/delete old one???) and wanted his old info deleted.

I have found (and enabled) different ballon colors, I changed mine to one closer to Lily's color. (As close as they offer at the moment!!!)

I can change anyone's ballon and 'Shout Out' (really editable now). If you open a MyFrappr Account, I will only be able to edit the 'Shout Out'. But, you will have the 'power' to edit your own info, at least I think that is the way it works... :D

PM me from here or from Frappr if you want changes. :)
