What can be done to improve the FI on the X1? I understand the 01-02 years FI is good but years before that are not good.
Is this an issue with injectors or the engine fuel management system? Would a Race ECM fix the issues - assuming they have Race ECMs for 2000 X1s.

Soon as I posted this I found this: http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/marriott/x1/pdf/Battle2WinFIArticle.pdf
Haven't read it yet.

The biggest thing you can do is zero the TPS (throttle position sensor.) That takes care of about 75% of the problem, and on some bikes, that's all you need to do.
That's a pretty good article. It covers a lot of things that are very rarely wrong, but are things that should be checked nonetheless.

You could try ECMSpy
http://www.ecmspy.com/
Allows you to reset TPS and the like via a laptop.

I have two '99 injected bikes. There were no changes to the components of the FI system in years '99-'02. There was an ecm upgrade/reflash for the '99's. I've never had any trouble out of either one and wouldn't switch to a carb unless I had a wildly modified engine. As primitive as it may be, the Buell FI works very good. I've got over 40K miles to prove it. Both are race kitted with race ecm's. If you want to mod your bike more than intake/exhaust, drop me a line and I'll put you in touch with a tuner who can do it. Has anyone here used this ECMspy deal?, I just found out about it and it sounds very interesting. Has anyone used this program to tune the 00-02 FI for a bigger ci engine and change the rev limit in the ecm?
