I just bought a 99 1200S and it has a leaking(oil) left rear shock. Can they be repaired or must they be replaced? Does anyone make an adjustable (aftermarket) replacement?

I wouldn't even attempt to repair a leaky shock. A broken spring...Maybe.
You can search the stickies here... http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36
There are several manufacturers (including H-D) that make shock absorbers. The most despised is the H-D.
Shop around, but there are so many. Progessive Suspension, Burly, etc. The list goes on.
The prices vary. So, read the thread for help on what you would need. It's been compiled by some very experienced and knowledgeable members.

Winter Wheel thanks for the reply. I'm trying to keep it as stock looking as possible. It apears to be leaking from the lower adjusting knob. what i want is a stock replacement or as close as possible looking. Thanks Mario.:geek
