Hello everyone, has anybody tried or heard any feedback on HDs new formula+ trans oil? HD says it can be used in our sportys from '71 up. I'm running syn3 in mine(over 4000mi,shifts great) and I'm happy with it but I'm just curious since this is something new, Hd lists it as a mineral based fluid:tour

I don't know about new fluids but I switched back to transport last week in my primary and it seems like I have less noise coming frome that area. With syn3 I was hearing a lot of primary noise and was adjusting it quite a bit to try to get the noise level down. So far after 1000 miles using transport again I am happy with both the noise and shifting.

There's a good article in the November AI about oil and it mentions the advantages of using heavier oil in the tranny on big twins versuses syn. So that's the reason for me retrying sportrans.

I have been using sport trans fluid from the Harley dealer in my 05 XL-883. I recently installed the new formula + because that is what is recommended now. I have about 1000 miles on it and it seems to shift a littler smoother and quieter than with the old fluid. I used Amsoil 20-50 synthetic in the past. It shifted smootly, but with allot more noise.

I just put the Formula + in my 1200 today , I actually called HD and asked them if it was really true the this oil replaced the sport oil and they said yes and that it was better and good for 5000 miles. I have not went for a ride yet so don't know if I can notice any difference.
