thanks. do you know if the hub in the front is the same width? maybe just change the bearings? it's just so much easier to find aftermarket wheels for a dyna than a sporty on ebay...

If you change the front bearings and spacer inside, then they will bolt right on to your sport. I had an 04 sport and grabbed 03 dyna whells. Bolt right on. In 04 the dyna's went to a 1inch front axle.

funny thing is HD went to a 1inch rear axle for "STRENGTH" om the 05 sport Hmm? Last I knew, the dyna weighed more and it still has a 3/4 rear axle?????

do both the sporty & dyna have 1 inch axles in the front? how about the rear?
i have an 05 sporty with 1 inch axles front and back.

Ok new issue.

In 04 sports had 3/4 axles front and rear
In 05 sports got 1in rear and stayed 3/4 front

In 03 down, dynas had 3/4 front and rear
In 04-05 Dynas went to 1inch front but kept the 3/4 rear. See the pattern????
not sure on 06s

The wheels did not change, only the bearings. But at 29 bucks each plus the spacers it gets costly in a hurry for new rollers.

bike works claims that the dyna front axle went to 1 inch for the 06 model. all others are 3/4 inch

Well I have an 05 dyna with a 1inch front axle.

Maybe bike works should get a Dyna and look at it;) It's tha rear axle that went to 1inch for the 06 model.

Maybe someone can answer this, will a 17 inch 06 dyna rear wheel fit an 05 sportster? Are they the same width, offset and axle size?

I would love to get a bigger chrome spoked wheel in the back, preferably an 18 but a 17 might do.

Can I put my old, 2000 bearings into a new ('06) Dyna front rim and be good to go, or do I have to buy all new bearings?

Buy new bearings...you'll ruin them trying to press them out.

I've got an '06 Sporty, and it's got a 3/4" rear axle. Kinda stunned me, when I went to adjust my belt tension.

rear axle should be a one inch. i think the threaded part is 3/4.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to get bearings that will convert this wheel to a 3/4" axle?

Ok Sham, try this.

The part number for a 2000 up 3/4 inch bearing is 9267
The spacer is part number 43608-00 for rear wheel

The part number for a 2000 up 1 inch bearing is 9247
The spacer is part number 43755-04 for front wheel

Not sure if the front and rear spacers are the ssame width though. It does not list length.

Those are the part numbers from my 05 Dyna parts book. If someone here has a sporty parts book they could post there part numbers and then compare them.

I do not have a parts book for the 2006 Dyna but if you call your local HD dealer and ask them the part number, they should be able to give it too you.

So basically if the part numbers coincide, you should be all set.

YOu can find wheel bearings onb e-bay for 29 bucks a set. 30 bucks each at the dealer is pretty steep.

Barry - Thanks. I only need the front numbers. I'm not sure I follow...here's why.

I need to put a 2000 3/4" axle into a 2006 Dyna front wheel with a 1" axle. Part numbers for the bearings should be different as the axle size is different. I'm trying to figure out if the outside diameter and the depth are the same, with just a bigger/smaller hole in the center or is the whole thing changed with no possability of adapting it?

the 3/4 bearings should fit in the hub. the outside diameter is the same, only the inside diameter is changed. I had to do it backwards for my deuce rear wheel. it needed the 1 inch instead of the 3/4.

front and rear bearings are the same...

So, things are looking up for me?

leo

the hardest part is pulling the bearings out...

I think that's a job for a pro...Don't want to nick up my new wheel!

Waiting to arrive. Tracking it on UPS. Got the Profile 21 inch front rim. The guy also has a Profile rear rim for sale of you want one.

i'm just looking for a different 19 inch front rim.

My point was the 2 bearings are the same outside diameter. So if the 06 Dyna took the same bearing # as the 05 Dyna, the smaller 3/4 bearing would fit in the same spot. The width of the spacer is the key. Did HD change the width of the hub since they now have big meat forks on them.

That is why I gave you the 1 inch spacer part #. If the 06 and 05 Dyna use the same front bearing and spacer size, they will both fit into a sporty wheel.

Thanks, Barry. Now I get it.
