Hi all, got what my amount to stupid question for you all.

I recently added the 1.66 diameter diamond plate grips to my scoot:

I love the grips, but think the switch housings are just too black now with these chrome grips butting up against them. was wondering, how do you all think it would look if I somehow got the switch housings painted to look kinda diamond-plated? Not sure how it could be done, but maybe even just some custom silver paint to mock up the look would be decent?

Am I out in left field (which is typical for me)?

Thanks all,
Albe

Give it a try. You can always get the chrome covers for your controls if you screw it up. The control covers are pretty intricate for painting in a pattern.

Those larger diameter grips are just what the doc ordered. I have the cushioned rubber ones. Really cut down on the vibes.

Thanks Chuck!

You could draw diamond plate marks on the housings with a pencil, then carefully etch the shapes out with a Dremel or similar tool, gives like a Pos/Neg effect..(arty)

Or just ditch the black and go for chrome..

I used these grips:

My thoughts were that I then had too much black 'going on' with the control housings and master cylinder, so I switched to chrome housings and master cylinder. To match the look of the grips I simply used my stock black switches in the chrome housings. I think it really pulls all of it together visually. Maybe you want to do that also?

Ole,

That's a damned fine idea -- chrome housings with black switches -- I think I'll do that!

I did that and it looks great. I also used the same diamond plate on
all the foot pegs and shift lever.

Hi all, got what my amount to stupid question for you all..........No such thing as a stupid question...........unless it's the question not asked. Here's another look at black and chrome switches and housings. My grips are 1.6-inch leather.

I have the diamond plate grips and black switches and switch covers, I think it looks fine for my bike. But thats me, I dont like the chrome switch covers. Thats whats makes a Harley so great though we can do whatever we like to our own. Who cares what anyone else thinks as long as you like it. Our opinions shouldnt matter on this subject so long as your happy with the way your bike looks when you have done the things you do to it.

I really like the diamond plate grips! I used the ISO grips on mine, went with all chrome controls with black switches/buttons. The rule of thumb on my bike is it is either chrome or black, nothing else.
