Corpse Involved in Mexico Motorcycle Crash

Oct 21, 10:32 PM (ET)

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Police discovered on Friday that a passenger on a motorcycle involved in an accident in the rough Mexican border city of Tijuana was in fact a corpse which the driver had been carrying through the city strapped to his back.

The motorcycle driver lost control and skidded in the downtown area and when a policeman approached to investigate the mishap, the driver fled.

The police officer checked the passenger, who had been seated behind the driver, and found it was the corpse of a man who had died some time before.

Riding Tip: Don't ride with a corpse strapped to your back :doh

Reminds me of that urban myth where the granny dies on vacation and the family is trying to transport the corps back home on the cheap (rolled into a carpet fixed on the roof of their car).....and of course the car gets stolen during a coffee break and the family is more than embarrassed to report to loss of car (and dead granny) to the police - but having a cold one strapped to your passenger seat - to "close" for comfort....

cheers

TIJUANA, Mexico (Reuters) - A motorcyclist with a helmet-wearing corpse strapped to his back crashed in this Mexican city on the U.S. border on Friday and fled on foot, setting off a police murder hunt.

The unidentified driver was trying to ride with the body through the center of Tijuana, south of San Diego, California., when he lost control rounding a curve.

He fled the scene, leaving the dead passenger on the curb. Police said the corpse, which had head injuries and bore strangulation marks, had died at least six hours earlier.

"When the police arrived they took the helmet off the corpse, believing at first that he had died in the crash," said Francisco Castro, a spokesman for the Baja California state police's homicide division.

"But he had adhesive tape stuck to his face, a knife wound to his forehead, and showed signs of strangulation," he added.

Castro said the dead man had wraps of methamphetamine in his pocket and an unkempt appearance, which led investigators to believe the killing was drug related.

"We think the killer was trying to take the body to a more deserted area to dispose of it," he said.

When Hollywood gets "wind" :laugh of this they'll smell money for sure.

Due for release summer of 2007, "Zombie Bikers On Drugs".

Or, maybe their restrictions on use of carpool lanes are more restrictive than in the US.

3O years ago a guy I knew brought his dead father from Savannah to Atlanta in the passenger seat of an MGB. I wasn't there thank God but I knew him well enough not to doubt it. He stashed his dad in the car at the shop he owned over the weekend and made arrangements the next Monday. I really hope it was winter but I don't know for sure. Matt

True story. A few years ago, around here, some guy was caught carrying his wife's head (or girlfriend's, I forget) around in a milk crate strapped to his motorcyle's luggage rack. They found the rest of her body somewhere else.
