Well I finally got around to fixing my brakes lights. The problem was the rear brake light switch.
Replacing the rear brake light switch is a pain in the butt because you can not get it out without removing the rear brake line. In order to remove the rear brake line I had to loosen the rear exhaust.
Finally I had to bleed the rear brake which I have never done before. I guess I got it done all correctly since now the brake lights work (they would not turn off before I replaced the switch) and the brakes work also.
