What do mean by "old school"?

I was seriously considering getting an old Vetter Windjammer off Ebay, fixing it up and making a mount for it to fit mine - but you'll probably spend at least the same money or more (shipping on them ain't cheap) as you would on a new windshield set up.

But if your serious about a full fairing, the Windjammer was a good one. I wish they still made them.

Sounds like your looking for a E-glide fairing, well get one off e-bay amd bolt it on.
You may need to makes some brakets, but it will work.

Yeah like the old windjammers or like the ones from the 70-80s that were on the honda 750 if you remember them.a full fairing with shield that had the driving lights built in and the inside had room for a radio and gauges.

I have been considering putting some sourt of fairing on my '04 883std. What I have found so far are 4 different offerings frim Rifle, http://www.rifle.com/ There is another one I found by Hoppe Industries called the Winddancer. It is more expensive than the rifle fairings, but it looks like a bat wing! http://www.hoppeindustries.com/spstr_fairing.html
Check them out sometime.:tour

Check out rottenralphs fairing on these boards.

He bought a Wixom Fairing and painted it and it doesn't look too shabby. It inspired me to get a fairing.

I watched/bid on a number of fairings on ebay recently. Here is the deal:

For a Harley bat wing you want the 66-83 or so "shovelhead" "FL" fairings. You will need to make up some bracketry. But these things seem to go for way more than they should.

I ended up getting a Wixom Fairing similar but not the same as Ralph's. It is presently in route to me from PA. I will be painting it silver and making up some brackets. I am even toying with the idea of adding a pair of auxiliary lights to it. I ended up getting it for 15.50 plus 20 bucks shipping.

The harley fairings seem to always get into the $200 range. Shipping to and from anywhere in the lower 48 should be between 20-30 bucks.

Hope this helps, I think its great that so many of us are looking into full fairings, the possibilities are endless with this bike!!!

Here is the fairing I hope to have in my hands soon.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4584989133&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

Make sure to post pictures of the bike once you get the fairing on. I'm curious to see what you do. If it weren't for the fact that I already had a windshield on my bike when I bought it, I'd be looking into one too.

That Raven model from Rifle looks intriguing as far as a full fairing goes, but a little spendy...might be cheaper to get an older Vetter and modify it...the Raven would have to be modified anyway...but it looks cool!

Not bad, a 7" headlight and a little plexaglass and you'll be looking good!

I picked up a Windjammer IV for $10.00 and a NOS XLCH mount for $28.35. Mount will have to be modified for the newer frame. I'll post how it goes.

Speaking of old school fairings, you have to go back prior to the Windjammers to the Phantoms, these are the cool ones and these are from the mid 60s

I have an Eglide faring already modified to fit the 04-06 and maybe more, for sale in the classifieds.
Ran it all last year, worked great and mounts with 3 bolts.... :banana:banana:banana
