I'm planning on buying the adapter from QTM, but would rather not spend the extra money on chrome or some other finish (the stock gold color looked fine to me). Does anyone know where else (other than ebay) to find the calipers and which part # would be appropriate?
Also, does QTM modify the rotors to fit our Sportster wheels or would a stock Brembo 12.6" floating rotor fit my bike?
Depending on how much the savings is, I'm thinking I'll just go with the 4 pad version of the caliper.
Thanks

When I talked to the guys from Brembo they told me that the 4 pad calipers were too much brake for a Sportster. That they would be way too senistive at the lever end because of the lower weight. Great for heavy cruisers but not really designed for lower weight bikes. They said the four piston unit would be more than enough. It's also a hundred buck cheaper.

Why have you honed in on Brembo. I know they are great brakes but P.M. and Jaybrake make direct bolt on 6 piston brakes that are perfectly capable of helping you low side or do a really nice stoppy if you have the right tire for it. Just my two bits. I have a 6 piston Jaybrake and it is perfect for the bike. Looks great and mounts right to the leg with the existing rotor.

A wrecked Ducati, an Indian... they all use Brembo as OEM. I would also check out the bolt pattern on a set of Nissan calipers. If you don't mind Japanese sportbike parts on your bike, you can pickup a set of sportbike calipers and master real cheap. Plus they work nice and you can even find 6 piston versions. Whats wrong with ebay? I practically built my bike using them as my favorite supplier. There are tons of Bremebo calipers listed as we speak. You'll never find anyplace cheaper.

Nothing wrong with ebay, thats where I just picked up my 19" wheel for $24. I just wanted to compare buying a new caliper that hasn't been painted, to a used one that may need to be cleaned (DOT-4), rebuilt, or something else I'm too lazy to do. In fact there is a UK-ebay dealer selling new 4-pad calipers for around $160 US ($50 shipping).
rottenralph, I've seen your posts recommending the jaybrake. Too much chrome for my taste, price is quite a bit more as well. Replacement pads for the brembo would be an easy find, as there is a Ducati dealer by my parents house (Now I visit them often). Brembo seems to be the most recommended and a performance standard.
Thats good to know that it would be too much braking power. I guess I skipped (ignored) those comments in the threads I've searched thru, as to low siding. I guess I'll stick with the four piston unit.
That'll make finding the steel brake cable easier (the 4 pad needed a straight or 15 degree banjo fitting). Should I still look at replacing the rotor, or is the stock rotor going to be fine? I've had z-pads on for the past 5k miles and have heard rumors they are brutal on the rotor.
Thanks for all the input.

Stock rotor look kinda dorky in my opinion with a 4 piston caliper. The width of the pads is narrower with the 4 puck so only the outside area of the brake surface is going to be used. If you wanna keep cost down, PM makes a non floating disk that has a narrower braking area. The used to make them in cast iron (i have a pair) but I think they are SS now.

Found the calipers, but never heard of the company selling them.

$140 each in gold or silver and $217 for the 4 Pad in gold
(Compared to used on ebay avg $160 for a pair)
