View Full Version : Ok, I'm going to do it...
MusclePump 27th October 2005, 23:36 Well, I love my bike just about as much as life itself. And as humans are always looking to improve their lives, it's time to improve my bike! Gramps is ready to rock.
I've got SEII Slip-ons (The good ones :D )
I'm thinking I want the Hurricane AC, good choice in anyone's opinion? Bad? Why?
Also, I've read the jetting 101 a few times and other material here, so I'm going to wish myself luck with that. Is there anything that isn't in there that I should know? Any big no-no's? Or things that should/need/must be done? I'm in Washington, we're only about 500ft of elevation so there shouldn't need to be anything overly exceptional done. I wouldn't think, anyways.
I'm excited!
Preacher 27th October 2005, 23:43 If you drill the carb or change the needles with the carb still on the bike, do yourself a favor and TAPE over intake manifold.
There is a natural vacuum there and it will suck in any small part/screw you drop.
Don't ask how I know this.

jade44V 28th October 2005, 00:29 Thanks for posting that link. I don't want to hijack MusclePump's thread so I'll start another thread about the pricing at that link.
Shamdog 28th October 2005, 01:00 I use the Hurricane AC and it is a supurb piece of work.
MusclePump 28th October 2005, 01:30 Hurricane AC it is!
The 1250 is a long way away :)
xl1200r 28th October 2005, 01:32 Only turn off for the Hurricane is it's pricey
mordak 28th October 2005, 01:37 Congrats on your upgrades and good luck with the jetting.
LVBOATDOC 28th October 2005, 02:04 Go with the Hurricane. The Screaming Eagle ones fall apart and the backing plate warps. As far as the price, I fell it's reasonable considering a custom one can cost 400 to 500 bucks after you get the custom vents and line.
ZenBiker 28th October 2005, 02:10 the 1212 conversion is less then half the cost of the 1250 and I feel it's almost as good. I don't think I'd ever spend the $$$ on the 1250, but the 1212 is possible as soon as next spring!
Just something to think about...
Also, the Hurricane Flow is what I got. I don't have it on yet, but after reading as much as I could on here I came to the conclusion that it was the best choice for me. Hope this helps.
SteveK 28th October 2005, 02:15 I have the Hurricane 2" with the offset. It works great and gives enough room that, depending on how I am seated, its not in the way of my leg at all.
MusclePump 28th October 2005, 05:03 If I get the 2" Hurricane AC I don't need to do the offset right?
ZenBiker 28th October 2005, 13:17 If I get the 2" Hurricane AC I don't need to do the offset right?
No, they sell both the centered and the offset in the 2", so you have the choice of either. I have the centered.
The 3" only comes in an offset version.
