I beat the 125 cc bike, yahoo I am a hero....... erm, ummmmmmmm, well,

So explain, I have £ 7,000.00 lots of bikes to choose from, and I, yes I, buy the slowest, worst handling bike on the planet!

What's even more scary is that I don't care... Wouldn't swap it for any of them. Am I mad?

Will someone please Explain????

Hey, Bill

There is a lot involved in why anyone wants or rides or drives or owns ANY kind of motor vehicle, and when it comes to motorcycles, who knows.

Many folks have a self image, and of what we ride, and lots of times the way something sounds and feels and looks, a sense of tradition, and on and on transcends speed.

I have an old 1991 Lincoln Town Car with 270,000 on the clock, and an old Lincoln Mark Vlll with 170,000. Not expensive, added together they have a fair market value of about $ 5000.00. Completely different cars, one slow, one fast (relatively) but I love 'em both, and who knows why.

Same thing with bikes - these "squid lovers" love their bikes, and are fanatics about them, just like HD people.

I also have a Kawasaki 1500 Nomad that is VASTLY different than the XL, but to a casual observer, since they each have bags and windshield, don't look too much different, the nomad is just fatter, but one ride around the block and anyone, even the rawest newbie, would know they are not from the same bolt of cloth. BUT, I ride and enjoy both, kinda depends on my mood or what kinda ride I'm doin.

So, who can really put it into words, we ride the bike (I hope) that feels good to us, and that helps us feel good when we ride, whatever that means to each person.

For what it's worth, if you go to a 1200 on the engine, with heads, and if you have international gearing, a change in final drive ratio, you'll move up that 1/4 mile list you showed pretty quickly.

Ride safe

its not about the speed its about the bike

I still have my 45 and I think a moped could out run me in the 1/4...hell a 7 year old on a bmx could out run me

I don't need to be the biggest, baddest, fastest, in the world, I just need to look like it ;) (well maybe not the fastest part)

A 2,000.00 Rolex don't tell time any better than a 20.00 Timex. Why do people buy them.. As the Ole Logo says... If I have to explain Harley Davidson you wouldn't understand... :banana :banadanc :banana

Ya' see, this is exactly where I am at too. I find so many riders on this forum that are obsessed with performance/handling and I just can't seem to get caught up in it. I just enjoy cruising around. Hell, I don't speed or race in my automobiles, so why would I on my bike? I don't know, different strokes I suppose.

If my sporty would only do the qtr in over 15 seconds I might have to blow it up! Luckily mine is a bit faster than that with over 90hp at the rear wheel.
