Been lookin thru catalogs for 2004 883 highway pegs. Can't seem to find any, any ideas? Just want something to strech legs a bit vs the mid pegs. Don't really want forawrd controls.

WELCOME! Have you posted an intro yet? Do you know flathead? He eats cheese too. You know, the guy with the Sporty tank mailbox?

I have these on my 1200R and love 'em. I think they fit 883 but would be sure before buying. Not a tough install... and does ease the road scrunch a bit.

This is from H-D website. probably find a better price if you shop a bit:

H-D 49053-04

Fits '04-later XL models with mid controls.

MSRP US $159.95

I went back to mid controls but kept the forward pegs. I learned to shift and brake with my heels and now have, what I consider to be, the best of both worlds.

Doc,

How have you found the adjustable pegs? Do you change position on them much and does it make that much of a difference to the riding position?

I set them to the fully tilted (angled forward) position and they are pretty comfy. Never tried any of the other two positions. Am 5'11" 210 lb with shot knees and need the extension. They work well and are pretty comfortable. Used to have an engine guard (bike is a 1200R) with pegs attached, but was never happy with their positioning, even though they were pretty much infinitely adjustable.

Pretty quick install, but the H-D instructions sometimes seem like they were written by someone who never tried to install anything.

got mine at ironcityclcles.com. part # 27-1728 for all 04 and up sportsters. 85 bucks and that includes shipping-half of what the MC wants and it also includes decent foot pegs which HD does not.

I finally found a non-rainy day to take some pictures of the H-D adjustable highway pegs I put on...I still like them a lot...at 5'8" the middle adjustment works just right for me...the right peg sticks out a little further than the left (for the pipe and ham can), but I don't think it's that noticeable going down the road...do check around, though...there are some retailers that give a much better price than the dealership...

My mentor, Turbota, is showing me the way that cleanliness is next to godliness...or some such B.S. as that! I think my cheap digital is hiding quite a bit of the dirt...in fact, I got on it yesterday and thought I had a small oil leak...this is gross...I found out from a neighbor that a local male cat whizzed on my BIKE! From the gas tank onto to the head and on the left case...it looked like clean, yellowish oil...my BB gun is now by my back door, and I know which one did it! That little SOB! And don't think I won't be aiming for the part that did that to my bike! Sheesh!

Hey, TxSporty, I resemble that remark! It only rains eight months out of the year here! Actually only about a fourth of the state gets the rain we have the reputation for...the other 3/4's (east of the Cascade Mountains) is all high desert, so it's real dry, but it gets cold over there, so folks like Rider1951 and I take the rain so we can have these temperate climates...but I do plan on going somewhere southward someday soon...I need twelve months of GOOD riding a year! But after all my Texas jokes, I'm not sure if I should stick my head in down there! :laugh

Berter ,
Do you have any pics of the highway pegs you got from iron city ?

Silly thought (okay, I am known for them around these parts, lol)
For the vertically challenged (I'm 5'6", if my vertebrae haven't collapsed) do highway pegs strain the lower back if you have regular bars? I've tried to mimick 'the position' and the back let's me know it's not happy.

Thanks,

Kim

I'd like to see a pic of the highway peg kit from iron city as well, and are they adjustable like the HD ones?

No pics yet-waiting for a few more parts for my winter projects. The pegs do have 3 holes for adjusting like the Harley pegs- except for the price , I can't tell the difference between the two.

berter I know you said you don't have pics of the highway peg support kit, but I want to double check with you and make sure these bolt on the frame like the HD ones. I don't have that crash bar thing on my bike so I want to make sure the ones from ironcity do in fact bolt onto the frame before I order them. Thanx!

Hey planb, I spent 11 years in the Sac-o-tomatoes (Sacramento to non-'fornians) while in the Air Force. It only snowed twice, one time in which it actually touched the ground. Anyway, I rode 365 days of the year (when I didn't need to pick up my kids from the ex). I got a little wet a few times, but most of the time I had more problems keeping hydrated than dry.
Just a little tour guiding... :tour

Anyway, nice ride.
Being 6'2" @ 270 or so (mostly gut :frownthre ), I got the forward controls when my lovely wife/etc... purchased my 04 XL1200R for me. I have noticed that it would be nice if I still had the mid-pegs, especially going over the lumps, bumps, and holes in the road.
Guess I'll check into getting some from Departure Bike Works here in Richmond. They are less expensive than the dealer.

xena, my pegs are exactly like the photos posted by planb. i installed them in about 15 minutes-needed a l shaped hex wrench -not much room to work, but installation was very simple.
