I recently came across this lift. Thought I'd share it with y'all. As I understand it, it's on sale for $84.00 until December.

Ok. I don't know much about lifts (haven't purchased one yet because I haven't found one I've been confident in) but it looks a little cheesy to me. Mabe it works great and I love the clearence height but if anyone has tried one please review for us.

Will, tell your thoughts on this lift.

Looks similar to the one at http://www.cyclelifts.com, which I've been using since last winter. Mine doesn't have wheels, but has a longer handle for better leverage and a wider base. It's around $120, but has been very convenient to use and store. Great for getting the front or back wheel off the ground for cleaning, shock adjusting or whatever. Very simple, but stable and not tippy.

I would check your local Pep Boys or Home Depot. They'll have hydrolic lifts for about the same or less. I would only go with something like the machoman if I have no place to put a hydrolic lift, and then I'd make one from black pipe using directions available here. You may have to become a supporting member to get the directions, but the price is well worth it. Especially considering all the other benefits of membership.

Here is a link to the jack from Pep Boys on eBay. at 57.00 for shiping I'd go to a local store.

I bought a cheap hydro lift from PepBoys. And although I may not have the perfect technique, for an amatuer it feels less than SOLID.

Buy a good product.

for that price I'd just buy a motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight (which I have and works fine) or from Sears (Craftsman). I've used my harbor freight to change out my shocks on my softail and worked great.

harbor freight ($59.99):

I have tried my buddy's craftsman and it was very hard to get under my custom. Seems it sits lower that the lift can go. I even have trouble getting a used oil pan under my bike. I have to use an alum roasting pan. That's what made me think of trying this if it is stable. Reading the specs on the craftsman, now I see why.......5 1/8 " min hgt. my custom sits around 4 1/2" ground clearence. May the harbor freight lift will work. It show min 4 1/2.

I have the harbor freight lift mentioned above. I have no clearance problems either and I have some of the lowest shocks out there. I like it. The bike feels sturdy to me. The only thing I did was strap the bike to the main handle to keep it from the possibility or tipping over.

Deicer, I have the Craftsman and my bike is an '05 Low.

What I do to get it under the bike is lean the bike over some one way, have the other person (oh, yeah, did I say it takes 2 people?) slide the lift in a little, then lean the other way and slide it in all the way.

It straps the bike down pretty solid. I've also used it on my buddy's VTX 1800 to change a rear tire, no problems....

what you need to do for low bikes and if you can't get them onto a lift is just ride them up on a wood block (two 2x4's work great -1 for the back and 1 for the front) and you don't have a problem anymore. I have this problem with my softail (it's as low as can go! :D) and the harbor freight jack and thats what I do.

for the money either jack can't be beat compared to the other "lift" you're looking at. if you get either the harbor freight or the craftsman you have so many options than this "lift".

I like that cyclelift so much I built one that works in the same fashion. But made a few changes so that my exhaust pipe clears the lift. Also I'm able to strap the bike to the lift for added security. If you can weld and have a few basic tools handy like a grinder along with a welder, you can save a few bucks. I have 3 kids so $120 is ALOT of money to me!

I have no welder :(
or grinder for that matter

Thought this one looked pretty good:

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00950191000&tab=spe#tab

Good minimum clearance and she's on sale for a few more days. I think I'll
run on down down and check one out. Let ya know what I find.

Peace,

I have a lift I got from Sam's club several years ago. I think it is similar to the one at Pep Boys. It is a decent lift. If I were to get a new one, the Sears Craftsman lift looks "good and beefy" to me :smoke

Hey Y'all,

I picked one of these up. Appears to be sturdy as hell. Won't have a chance to get the bike up on there tonight, but will do so tomorrow, just in case anyone wants to take advantage of the sale. Let you know tomorrow how she fares.

Peace,

Darrin

i went to sears and found they had the red and black MC ATV jack on sale for $59.99 for craftsmen club members. ($69.99 for regulars) I was lucky enough to get a nice salesperson who gave me the discount.

I have a goodyear jack. It's made exactly like the Sears one and it works great. Just like it was mentioned above, I roll the front tire onto a 2x4 and it gives enough clearence to get the lift under the bike.

The jack that willprevale found works a lot like the DIY one in the downloads section.

you can also get directions for a similar lift from sportster.org
do a search for rikko's lift
but for 89 bucks, you could get a real lift from sears, or pep boys, or.....

And Larin lifts (Mal 2) are only 2" tall, so it slides right under the bike whether it's lowered or not. No reason to have the 2"x4"'s around. I got the 4 point adapter with mine delivered for $89. Most of the time tho, I use my JP'sLastStand because it so much easier to use and holds the scoot stable without the need for tie-downs.

:smoke I bought mine from wally world on sale for $50...hydraulic like the sears and others....I've had everythign fom lawnmowers to the back of my pickup on it with no ill effects....right now my brothers SHOVEL is sitting on it...My rigid SPORTY fits on it fine too and I made a small wooden ramp to roll up on for the rigid....I also have a home made jack like you mentioned....cost me around $5 to build it outta some 1" square tubing I had lying around.....got it under a lowered 883 this past saturday....no issues...I wouldnt BUY a pivot lift..but woudl damn sure invest in a hydraulic one as cheap as they are ...the pivot lifts are/were a big thing years ago...now...with a hydraulic you can lift the complete biike off the ground with suspension hanging and service and cleaning is a breeze..most of them also have tie down loops too for additional safety...Personally I prefer the stability the hyraulics offer over the not so stable sometimes pivot lifts....

Here is what I would get, has a 3.5 inch minimum height. Even though it costs more. I also think that if you have the room and some more money to get a Handyman air lift like the dealers and indys have. My older brother has one and got a sweet deal on it, but is well worth it.
