View Full Version : HD "brake light" boots
xena 2nd November 2005, 01:55 Does anyone have these (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/333293/c/3/g/men/s/5.html)? I don't really love all the crap all over them, but I tried a pair on at a local store, they fit me good and I can get them for 105.00 out the door. I didn't buy them because I thought I could get them for less online but after a few searches I think I'll be going back to the store. I have flat foot so it's very difficult for me to find shoes that are wide enough and comfortable once I put my special inserts in.
Any feedback from you guys who wear these much appreciated.
jade44V 2nd November 2005, 02:04 Nice looking boots. The "Full cushion sock liner" sounds like a nice feature, I have a different pair of HD boots that have no lining whatsoever, pretty uncomfortable. I'll be looking for new ones in the spring.
carl2124 2nd November 2005, 02:12 I have a pair of laced boots, but I hate tieing my laces, the zipper idea looks different, comfort would only be the thing for me,plus not having laces...not a bad price for Harley boots.
Jimbo999 2nd November 2005, 02:14 I have the HD Knee High Boots with steel toes, heel plate and eagle on the side.
I'm a little embarassed to wear them except when it's cold or on special occasions.
They fit great ( EEE ) and keep my legs warm. Makes me wish I was a poser
so I could wear them more often.
Snuffy 2nd November 2005, 02:26 bought a pair just like them. A little clunky and riding a R model shifting is a little tight for space. But all in all a good boot paid 79 bucks at Sports Authority for mine 140 at the stealers. took all the HD stuff off the soles, just way to much for me. Like driving a chevy or ford with a sticker across the windshield telling everybody you own one. If they can't tell I'm ridin a HD my boots won't help. but thats just me
xena 2nd November 2005, 02:28 Hey Snuffy thanks for the tip! There's a Sports Authority within a few miles of me so I'll check them out. The 105 OTD price was at Bob's Store.
Snuffy 2nd November 2005, 02:30 xena that was back about 4 months ago. but S.A. will beat there price
mikeLI_77 2nd November 2005, 02:34 Xena if you have a walmart near your house check out in the boot section the Herman survivors. they are only $40.00 they are water-proof they are pretty warm. They are black and have mesh on the sides of them. I use these at work and i am out in the snow for hours with them and they keep my feet warm and dry. I have flat feet also and also require wider style boots and sneakers to wear. I don't use my arch support although i should. But these boots work great for me. They are a little tall though. I tried to post a link to show them to you but walmart.com does not show them on their web page for some reason but i know they carry them in the stores because on my trip to laconia my friend needed a new pair of boots and he bought them from the walmart which was just west outside of Boston.
KC_Sporty_Gal 2nd November 2005, 02:45 the stuff all over them definately cries out 'poser'. Luckilly I can stuff my feet in just about anything. I am wearing a pair of army paratrooper boots I got from the surplus store right now.
xena 2nd November 2005, 06:10 Mike thanks but in addition to having flat foot, I have small feet. I've tried on Herman Survivors before and even the smallest men's size doesn't fit me. I'm actually after these particular boots because of all the reasons previously stated. Still I appreciate the suggestion.
Yeah KCSG but I've tried on a ton of boots and due to my condition there isn't much that fits me and is comfortable. Fortunately those badges are removeable.:tour
Not to be a bitch or anything and I appreciate the input everyone but I'm really looking for feedback from folks who are presently wearing these particular boots. Thanks!
GOTWA 2nd November 2005, 06:29 Try this Michelle: LEATHER UP HD BOOTS (http://www.leatherup.com/product.asp?pf_id=D81680%2DWB)
I've made three purchases through them with no trouble at all. I read a post a couple weeks back where someone was having trouble with them and accepting a Discover card. But, as I said I had no trouble and my best friend also made a buy with them and had no trouble.
loopback 2nd November 2005, 07:05 i picked up a pair of the brake lights at sears about a month ago. can't remember how much, but it was definitely less than 105. first thing i did was strip off most of the silly stuff...it's just screwed into the rubber, so it's easy to remove. the boots were a little stiff at first, but after about a week loosened up nicely. i've been riding in lots of crummy weather (down to the high 30s, some days in the rain) with them and they've been doing a good job keeping my feet warm and comfy. i like 'em.

xena 2nd November 2005, 20:16 Thanks Loopback. Appreciate the feedback. I checked my local sears and they are the same price as Bob's so I guess I'll be buyin em there.
883rnh thanks for the recommendation but I can't wear those kinds of boots due to
a severe flat foot condition. I was more interested in input from owners of the
HD brake light model.
