Hi everybody!
What size of main jet and intermediate jet I should have in my S&S super E carb after doing 883 to 1200 conversion? I didn't asembly my engine yet, still waiting for pistons and jugs (next week). Setup is 10:1 reverse dome wiseco pistons, custom chrome jugs, stock heads (ported),screaming eagle pipes. Before riding 883 I had .062 as main jet and .0295 as intermediate jet. I don't know if I should go one size up or maybe more.
Waiting for reply.Thanks
Lukas(from Poland)
Maybe should start the engine first with old jetting???

If the engine ran fine with the old jetting then I'd use that first and see what the engine wants......It'll tell you... ;)

How did the bike run with that large intermediate jet? My Super E came with a .028 intermediate, I changed it to a .0265 and it runs better (this is on an '89 883)
My main jet is a .066
S&S manual recommends 883 intermediate : .0265 - .028
main: .062-.068
74" (1200) stock engine: intermediate .028 -.0295
main: .066 - .072
74" (1200) Stock-Mild: intermediate .028 - .031
main: .068 - .076
Your main jet seems kind of small, try bumping it up to .066 or .068. Intermediate might be OK. For that, you have to set the idle mix screw. It should fall about 1.5 turns out. If it falls more than 1.5 then intermediate is too small. It it is less than 2.5 turns, then intermediate is too large. Download the Super E manual from the S&S website, it's about 28 pages long. Very helpful.
I just realized that you are from Poland. Jak sie czymasz w' Polsce? Ja oglondalem twoj website, bardzo interesujace zeczy...

Hi Edzio! Hi everybody!
Nice to meet You beyond the ocean! You speak polish! That's nice! Thank You for visiting my website, how did You find it???
Thank You for jetting info. My 883 bike ran perfectly with .0295 intermediate and .062 main. But it's a long story how I tuned it. Listen to the story.
When I bought my sporty everything was great,I could run without probs. One day I dismountled My S&S Super E to be sure there is no any shit inside.
In fact, there were no scrubs, but I discovered that fast idle lever was bent and enrichment plunger wasn't fully closed. In this situation engine ran richer. I restore the lever to oryginal position and put carb back. And then problems appeared. Couldn't run mid speed at all. Carb farted like hell. On high speed everything was normal. I tried to set mixture with idle screw. No results. Changed spark plugs - no results. Cleaned fuel cock filter - no results. Then I downloaded S&S manual from S&S website. Looking through the troubleshooting tips I understood I should change intermediate jet for bigger one. I did it. Put .0295 , start it and set idle mix . What a change!!! No farting at all. Very smooth ride. I called previous owner and asked: "what did You do with the carb before???" He answered:''Nothing! One day I just sent bike to the local stealer in Warsow for tunning".
So it looks like that, Engine. You never know what the previous so called "mechanics" did with your bike. I never let anyone to put hands into. I try to do everything myself. If I don't know I ask people on forum.
Thank You guys for reply. I'll do like Stevo suggested, start motor first with old jetting. Then I'll see what to do. But belive I should change at least main jet.
Ride safe!
