Ok...I'll trade in my "man" card for a minute.

Seeing as my generation LIVES on the web, finding people on myspace and facebook has become common place. So, the other night, I'm sitting at home getting ready for bed and I go online to look the name of a cd. I check my myspace and I had a friend request. lo and behold, it's from a girl I went to elementary school with! Now, this isn't some random girl, when I moved from hartford to east hartford I went from private school to public school and was placed right behind her in class. I know, at age 10 I should have been focusing on video games and hanging out with friends, but she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Now...I know it's hard to believe, but I wasn't the cool kid in school.....I know...I know...Crusin_w00kie, NOT the cool kid?? ya....sorry. lol

So, she wants nothing to do with me in elementary school, and we didn't see each other in middle school and we went to different high schools, so I haven't really seen her in almost 18yrs. Guess who comes and finds me on myspace??? I pull up her profile and , gods honest truth, I was speechless, my heart stopped and the whole world went quiet. She's still just as beautiful as she was, hasn't changed. Oddly enough, we're into the same stuff, concerts, music, bikes, cars etc etc etc.

Guess who's got a date for valentines day????? :D:clap:D:clap:D:clap:D

(ok...I'll take my man card back now)

My wife of 16 years and I are going to eat at a new "Thai" place that just opened.

Nothing special, she has to teach from 6-9, so we couldn't do very much in the way of a "date". We did exchange small gifts this morning (I got her a brake pedal (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444876713 5&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302290711&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302290711&bmUID=1203003504507&bmLocale=en_US)she has been wanting for her Heritage).

So, even though it probably isn't as "big" as it was 23 years ago when we started dating, we still take the opportunity to make the day a little nicer and show our love and affection.

Because, nothing says love and affection like chrome and Thai food! :banana

My wife was called out of town on business yesterday for 10 days, so I am going to dinner and the Predators/Blackhawks game by myself tonight. I sent her flowers that were waiting in her hotel room when she arrived yesterday, and she gave me a little stuffed Monkey wearing a HD shirt that says "I Love You" in her voice when you press it's hand.

I was going to get my valentine hugger shocks but I got out bided last second. So I guess the boys and me will go out to eat, and watch the goonies. I'll make it up to her this weekend when the boys go to their mom's. Hard and fast is the way she likes it, I think I can handle that.

Ok....Valentines day is a fricken sham. Designed by corporate weasles as a reminder for clueless males to show their love once a year and to give their wives some glimmer of hope that their marriage is not a complete waste of time.:banana

Seriously....I never have or will send my wife flowers or anything on Valentines Day. But I do send her flowers randomly through the year. Nothing like working in a cube farm on Valentines day and seeing the sea of flowers from husbands who can't be original..who need the media and retail companies to remind them that they have a wife.

My wife gets jazzed when she receives flowers on some random day and is the only one at work that day to receive them. I feel it shows her that I am thinking about her all the time....not just of February 14th......

Man, you just reminded me of what a competition it was when I worked where she works! I can't tell you how many furious phone calls I overheard by women who were embarrassed because their husbands' flower delivery was either late or lame. Crazy :censor on VD.

Actually Jenn and I are completely on the same page about this.

Plus, she thinks that, though they're a nice gesture they're usually a waste of time/money.

I get her something once or twice a year, not just roses but some kinda cool arrangement. Sometimes I'll hand deliver em something like that.

But we don't have to do SHYTE for stupid hallmark holidays.

Now that said, I'm still cooking her a nice dinner tonight (and though she pointed out I usually do that every night, I'm gonna try harder tonight, maybe try to make a rasberry reduction sauce using some cabernet and encrust some fresh Tuna something like that... we'll see)...

Last place I worked at this woman there received flowers that were smaller then another women who she hated. She was in the parking lot on her cell phone yelling at her husband and saying how embarrassed she was that he didn't get her a bigger arrangement.

If that was my wife, I'd let her rant in one ear & out the other. But you can bet your a$$ the next time there would be NO flowers sent to her at all. That's just me though....

But that doesn't necessarily send the message to her that you want to send.

IF that was my woman (oh who the F' am I kidding, I'm old enough not to get into a relationship with a woman like that... I THINK)...

but IF I was, I'd TELL HER WHY she would not get them next time or I'd be out the door.

You have to understand the big reason women want flowers at work. With some of them it is nothing more than them being able to say "suck on this bitches!" to the hens they work with. Give them a ball big enough to spike in front of their "friends" and the drawers are yours!

Soooo glad Mrs. seantx is above that crap.
