Hi everyone

I'm new to all this, got my first bike last December 2003 1200 XLC, when the wife and I split after several years of being told we couldn't afford one :p I'd wanted a Harley Davidson since being an impressionable 13 year old in 1987 and watching Motley Crue riding them on the Girls Girls Girls video lol.

I'm loving it already, although the weather over here has been crap for the most part since I got it I have been out on it quite a lot. I've already made a couple of minor modifications to it, floorboards and soon some saddlebags, and I'm hoping to add a larger tank and different handlebars in the not too distant.

Pretty much everyone that has a bike where I live has one sort of Japanese sports bike or another so I'm not lucky enough to have access to people with other Harleys. I'm hoping to find those like minded souls online and maybe meet up with any local people. I will be riding to Plymouth (250 miles away) a lot as that's where the kids now live with their Mother, and there always seems to be a lot of Harleys down there so hopefully that'll give me the change to meet a few people.

Everyone I've met on the board so far seems really cool and friendly, have had some good advice about stuff too. I'm hoping to contribute some stuff as I get more used to the bike.

Cheers and all the best

Dean.

KootA bit of snow might be nice for a change. You've probably seen more of it than you care for?

Welcome from the Frozen North (and I don't mean Newcastle!)

Congratulations on the new ride, won't be long before you meet up with some like minded souls, and if that means piling on a few miles all the better...

Come up this way some day and we'll show you the best roads in the World, but then again I am just a touched biased...

Mmmm...1987. I was 9. :laugh But I'd already had the Sportster seed planted because of my father. It just took me another 19 or so years to get one.

You've got that right Folkie, a bit of snow is nice but it has been a heavy snow year up here. Rubbing salt into the wound is the fact that I just got back from Vancouver Island where I saw a lot of bikes on the road.
