View Full Version : Hello from Colorado
unclesumo 21st February 2008, 01:18 Just became the owner of a 2008 883 Sportster Standard. I've been riding 35 years. Done everything from enduros to ice racing with dirt bikes. Have owned 4 cylinder crotch rockets, 750 and 850 3 cylinder Specials, Yamaha Euro 920 v-twin and 2 stroke twins. This Sportster has just got me grinnin' ear to ear. People say the Sportster is top heavy....the 750 and 850 Specials I rode were top heavy, I really love how my Harley handles! (never thought I say that). Have a set of SE SP's installed and love the sound!! For the moment the 883 has plenty of pep for me (maybe I'm slowing down as I get older.) Eventually a full stage one will be in the works with a remap. Can't wait for good weather so I can ride more.......

unclesumo 21st February 2008, 03:59 :tour:tourGot my Sportster from Outpost HD in Pueblo. It was a great experience, Mike and Nick worked out the deal I wanted and were very friendly. They have got my loyalty. My Dad (who has a 2000 Heritage Softail Classic) owned a Riku back in the fifties in Japan. I have the original owners manual in Japanese, when I showed it to the Service manager, he freaked out because he knew what it was. A Riku is an exact copy of an early Harley from before WW2. When the war started Harley had a factory in Japan, the Japanese kiced out all the Harley people, revoked their patents and continued to manufacture the bikes. Somewhere I have a picture of him and his Riku (750cc). When I find it I will try to post it....

Welcome to the Forum and to Sportyship! I live SW near Cheyenne Mountain. Let's get together and ride sometime. It was warm enough this past weekend that I rode down CO 115 to Florence, CO 96 to Pueblo, and then back up I-25 home, about 120 miles. I also bought from Outpost H-D and had a good experience with them.
