I like more than one and wish we could combine a couple. "Sportser, The machine that defined motorcyling for the world since '57" I think sounds good. I didnt submit one. I always completely drew a blank whenever I treid to think of a slogan. I couldnt even draw on all the corny military quips stuck in my head I could have adapted. It's going to be fun to watch this contest.

Some good slogans there, will have to think about it though..

I had thought of these.. (some with just a pinch of plagarism!)

The XL Forum, The Champagne of forums.

"One fiddler you won't have to pay." XL forums, free advice at it's best.

A, B, C, of Sportsters...XL Forum has arranged these in ways that make you cry, giggle, laugh, love, hate, wonder, ponder and understand.

XL Forum "We'll leave a light on for you"

Oh well maybe next year!

I chose: The Sportster and the XL Forum: a ride, an adventure, a family!

Mainly because it's supposed to be a slogan for the XL Forums as well as our beloved Sportsters. Not all the slogans capture both things.

I am disappointed that most, if not all, of these suggestions are for Sportster motorcycles. The slogan is supposed to be for the XL Forum, not for the bikes. It is not the same thing.

Hope to see my own suggestion in a future poll.

Jeffytune
13th November 2005, 05:12
Well, I am happy to see mine made the first cut.

Ride the Lightin' & Making thunder since '57.

I came up with this to try and make a single statement that would include all the re-incarnations of the Sportster.
This bike was the first factory production crotch rocket, wile it is no longer the cutting edge, it still carries the distinction of being the first true Factory production race-able bike for the masses.

Nick, I see your point, it should be about the Forum, BUT I disagree with you on this point, This forum is only here because of the Sportster, the two are intertwined, you could not have one without the other, and the reason most come here is because of the Sportster.

Now for a shameless plug.....Please vote for mine.

bplinson
13th November 2005, 10:13
The slogans that I was sent are not being put up in the polls in any particular order.

It it all random.

Do not think that I have a preference based on what poll or what location on the poll the slogan is in.

we've still got another couple to come...

I'm hopin someone has something simple...

along the lines of

XLForum .... XL'ing since '03

or some other play on words that draws XL ....(exellance )...and sportster together...

The simpler the better... I just couldn't come up with what I was tryin to say and figured someone else would nail it.....hopefully they will

Something that says what this one says..."The Sportster and the XL Forum: a ride, an adventure, a family!" but simpler...more refined

All,
Call me crazy but I think we need a slogan that can get hits on google and other search engines so we can attract more people this great forum. We want to take over the net and let everyone know how great our forum is, excellent community of diverse riders, and awesome rides. Personally I am too dumb to make up something eloquent that sums up this forum for me in a sentence. I know without all the info here there is no way I could ride or wrench my own sporty.

I AM JUST GLAD TO BE HERE WITH YOU ALL:banarasta

I would say .. YES .. you're correct

but I think we need to have the bike in the slogan so people know what we're on about....

I havn't seen anuthing that really hits the spot yet....most seem to be first or second generation ideas....

we need more refinement to get it say what we want in a short, concise and possible witty phrase...something that can be used as a catch cry or slogan

As I said some of the ones put up already are ok... just not refined enough..these things often work better with a brainstorming session, with everyone throwing their ideas and building on whats been thrown in...

it's a damn sight harder to come up with a simple slogan or design than most people realise .... the simple designs often take the most work... I see it in engineering every day

The problem with single elimination is that some good ones get left behind...

It really makes each stage's choices (for each poll) affect the results...

I'd like to see more of a double or triple elimination....

Each poll separate....top 3 of each poll move to second round...etc...

Don't understand I have been a member of this forum since March I believe.Been a member of sportster.org for a few years ,with that in mind ,What qualifies one to be so called team member.

Grant you I don't have the post count like others before me nor do I have the time to frequent the site & post as often as I would like.

your original post to me at my skullster@netzero account didn't insinuate that I was not eligible.I am really confused.

If I can't participate then there is no sense of me staying on the forum.Certainly can't be my qualifications as I have over 29 years in the saddle.Probably a lot more than most posters on this forum,Yourself included.
