View Full Version : Lucas Oil for the 1200r Good or Bad Fastgear01 16th January 2005, 05:06 need some info on lucas oil treatment. The very last thing I need is something else mucking up the works. The oil folks pretty much got it figured out and probably don't need any help. IMHO Nightboy 16th January 2005, 05:10 I stay away from "additives". I would personally drain it out and add some fresh synthetic Amsoil 20-50 and never look back. flathead45 16th January 2005, 05:14 well my dad put some wynn oil treatment in a used car he had and wynn has a replacement warrenty if ya use their stuff , well about 6 mounths later the motor blew up and wynn bought him a new one , so I guess thats a good thing , $30 in oil got him a new mill for the car I don't know if the treatment was the gun that killed the engine , it was one of those early 80's buick 2.8 v6's that were junk off the assembly line Fastgear01 16th January 2005, 05:20 Man I am draining the oil tomorrow better to cost me 7.95 then the price of an engine. thanks for the info collinsb 16th January 2005, 06:01 need some info on lucas oil treatment. There may be some believers, but I doubt if many feels that it gives your engine any more protection or longer life. Save your money for a Big Mac Value meal with large fries. You might even have enough left over, to wash it down with a nice cold Budweiser. Billy txsporty 16th January 2005, 06:36 Did I Hear Budweiser!!! :D jag1 17th January 2005, 13:43 Never add oil additives to you oil! The oil manufacturers test there oil with there ingrediants only. They don't test there oil with additives added. So, they don't know what could happen to the oil if an outside ingrediant is added. barry1967 17th January 2005, 15:36 Ommygodbillybadassjustgavesomerealadvice to somebody. Ok you, where's the real Billy. LOL Stephen Hawk 18th January 2005, 15:38 Each oil, regardless of the manufacturer, has a specific additive package designed to work with their product. At present, you will find the multi-grade synthetics offer the greatest protection in terms relative to flash point, viscosity breakdown and overall engine wear characteristics. I made the switch to SE Syn3 20w50 at 1,000 miles and didn't like it as it allowed the engine to make to much upper end noise. At 2,500 miles I switched to Mobil 1 15w50 (red cap) and love it. I now use it in the primary as well as the engine. I am at 4,000 miles now and have no problems at all. Hawk |
