I have been playing with some of my Sportster pics and photoshop. Let just start by saying that my photoshop skills are non-existant. But just use your imagination when you look at this pics....

Some ideas i have been sitting on are:

- Triple Trees will be painted black
- Front fork sliders will be painted black
- Whitewall tires to go with the spoke wheels.
- Chrome or Black Brake Disc??

Items I am going to put on my bike during the winter:
- Chrome Master Cylinder
- Chrome Primary Cover
- Chrome Lowered Rear Shocks
- Chrome Upper/Lower Belt Guard + Sprocket Cover
- Solo Seat - I am going to re-upholster the original seat.

As you can see i have alot of ideas and things i want to do ... I just need some opinions from all you Sportster Fans... I know ultimately it is my decision....

Thanks!!!
Ed

Nice list..This is half the fun of owning a Sportster. Personally I would lose the white walls. IMHO.

I don't care for white walls on Sportys myself, but this might give you a better idea of what your bike will look like with them. Hope this helps.

Before i blew the motor in my 53FLH, I was going to put fat white walls on her, but I sold it, would have been a great look on that bike....sotra the old Al Capone gangsta look...but I never got that far w/ that bike....not sure though if I like w/w look on a Sporty...mayby Glide fenders would go better w/ the retro, art-deco look.....Mike

I like the whitewalls, but I'm biased. :) Blacked out parts look great too, I'm not sure if it doesn't look right because of the blue paint job though, lose the 100th aniv paint first, just my .02. Good looking scoot as it is though.

White walls look okay when new and brite white. On the Sporty I don't think I'd do it. But hey its your bike if you like go for it.

I really like the blacked-out fork lowers and trees. I think the tires look better black though.

Add me to the "I like the blacked out parts" crew.
I'd lose the whitewalls idea too. Reminds me of something Pee Wee Herman would ride.

Pilot must be color blind. That bike looks Black to me not Blue. And dont lose the 100th an paint job, That was part of the reason for us getting 100th an's. The only thing I might do to my 100th an paint is add some kewl pinstriping to the top of the tank. If you didnt want the 100th an paint you should have baught a 2002 or older, cause you did in fact pay a lil extra for a 2003.
I agree with everyone else about the whitewalls , but I all have strong beleifs that it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks as long as you like the way your bike looks.
Cause I personally dont like the bobbed fenders (for my bike) But I think it looks great on your bike.
Your doing a great job with your imagination. No matter what we think , I bet you'll love your bike when you do whatever you do to it. At least I hope you do. ;)

Thanks for all your inputs... I going for the bobber style look... If I decide on the WW it wouldn't be until later.... I think i will be painting the lower legs and triple trees... I am keeping the 100th theme on the bike...

Alley - Thanks for that much better picture...

Just came back from the bookstore and checked out several mags and found some good pics of some bobbers and got some ideas.

Once I install the new parts I have I will post them up!

Thanks,

Eddie

I love the blacked out look ... but, in my opinion, whitewalls don't look good on a stock Sportster frame. I love whitewalls, but only on a rigid bobber. Again, just my opinion. Make it how YOU want it ... and ride it proud!

A friend of mine owns this one.

I think it's a fifties romantic classic customization.

I am digging that... I like how the front WW is thin.... Thanks for the photo bud! I like the 50's look....

Do you know if the fork sliders are the originals? Did he just paint over them?

Thanks!

I love the Bobber look too. But the 100th aniv paint job is antithetical. IMHO.

http://www.hdbikers.com/Alleydude/Pictures/03ww.jpgThe front tire will have to have a thinner WW than this photoshop. The only WWs available that fit the front of a sporty are Avon Venoms and they have a narrower band for the size that goes up front. You have more choice for the rear (Avon Ganster, Avon Venom, Maxxis & Dunlop). Take a look in my gallery (http://xlforum.net/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=100) for some picks of an '03 with Avon Venom WWs.

Here's shot of my old '89 Evo....It has some 'Bobber' elements to it...namely the early style solo seat, short rear shock, large Glide headlight, fork boots, Drag Pipes, forward controls....

Those are hand made rear fender struts (didn't make straight ones back then), bobbed full front fender. Modified old style air filter, Low Ape bars, small tool pouch.

Mel ...

Looking good. Ditto what Hrdly said about the rear turn signals. Maybe a set of the 04-05 turn signals with smoked lenses.

Are those the stock black colored 1200-S pipes, or did you have them recoated? Very nice.

Those fork boots on the '89 Evo Sportster are actually a set of original Ironhead Sportster boots from my '68....all I did was turn them upside down.

If you take a look at my '74 XLCH Ironhead, I used a set of new 'Trailmaster' brand auto shock boots that I purchased at the local Hot Rod shop. They actually come in Black, Blue, yellow and Red colors and cost 7.99 or 9.99, i can't remember. A Cheap Trick I think....They slipped right on, the one end actually fits perfect into the groove of the lower fork slider groove and the other end didn't need a clamp to keep it up because they fit perfect over the fork tubes and have enough friction holding power to keep them up. They would probably work great on the new Evo Sportster forks too.

Looks great. I am going with the same look. Getting some fork sliders form Shamdog and his triples tree. They will be going straight to the powder-coaters once I get them adn powder coated gloss black. I think they will go great with my PCoated wheels.
