I need to get a better seat for my 04 883C. I do a lot of 2 up riding and am looking at the Mustang Regal Duke. Does anyone have one of these seat? Or is there something with some more comfort. :feedback

I have the Vintage Mustang and love it. The pillion part is a bit wider and from what the gals tell me, pretty comfy. They're all built for comfort so the style choice is strictly a personal thing.
I've been told other things concerning that seat but that's for a another time :laugh

What kind of riding are you going to do? How many miles in a day? For the price and style I think I'd go with the HD Sundowner. Actually the Duke won't fit the newer bikes. The guy at Mustang told me the Vintage is the best seat for long days. I don't know how the rear pad is for comfort. Myself I'm torn between the HD Sundowner and the Mustang Vintage.

I bought a Mustang Regal Duke for my '77 (yes, they make a version for the older bikes) and it was very, very uncomfortible. That raised rear portion, just ahead of the passenger portion, just cut into my butt. I had mine altered by having that hump removed, and it helped a lot, but I finally went to the seat I have now, a studded "Original" seat, as Mustang calls it.
Don't know it the '04 version of the Regal Duke suffers from the same problems mine did, but personally I wouldn't buy another one.

I've had the Sundowner for about 4 months (2500 miles) and it's great. It's wide at 15-inches, with a passenger pillion 12.5 inches wide. I use it with the smooth bucket passenger backrest, with a permanently installed sissy bar. I was getting low backache on rides over an hour and going to this seat along with a change of handle bars did away with the aches. :tour

the pillion pad on my mustang vintage is very comfortable, or so i'm told.
although i've yet to take a pillion on a real long ride, my gf tells me its a hell of a lot more comfortable than the stock seat.
cheers

Just about any seat will be better than what came with the bikee. I highly recommend that you get longer shocks if you plan 2-up ridding for any distance. The stock shocks only have about 2 1/2" of travel. This will be a big problem with 2-up.

For the money I don't think you can beat the Sundowner. I've had it on both my 98 and my 04 and with arthritis, stenosis etc. it carries my butt on some long hauls with none of the complaints I've had on others. Passengers I've carried have had no complaints either.

I think the sundowner may be a better match for an XLC then an XLR. I have one for my 1200R. Passengers love it but I find it pushes me too much forward especially braking or going down hill.
I usually ride w/ the stock seat except when carrying my wife or daughter.

Has anyone tried a regular-reach Corbin Solo? Does the rear of the seat "sit" further back than a stock '04 roadster seat? The hump at the back of the stock seat just irritates the upper part of my butt SO bad after about an hour's ride I want to take my Gerber to it!

I modified my stock seat and it helped some. I just put a Mustang Wide Vintage on my bike and it is a reallly big improvement. Went on a 90 mile ride and had no butt burn at all.

Looks like you have the exact same bike that I have. Take a look at my review of the Mustang seat that I bought, it's in the Reviews forum. We really love ours. I bought the solo seat, and matching passenger seat as well, it looks good either way. You can see pics of it (the solo seat view anyways) here. (http://www.klamen.com/harley/bike.htm)

I ordered the Mustang Wide Solo for me, and Wide Pillon Pad for the little lady about a week ago. I'm told the Wide Solo is on a 3 week backorder, the wide Pillon is in stock.
Comfort is coming!
