They have officially let Ness have too much say in the concept/design department. This is by far the ugliest motorcycle since the Honda Rune.

I agree, it IS uglier than hell-but from the reviews I've read in magazines, it's horrible appearance is about it's only downfall. I wouldn't want one in my garage-but different strokes, and all that.......

I did a demo ride on one. Just an average, overpriced, bike wrapped up in fancy fiberglass.

Too bad. I really like the look and feel of all their other bikes. Almost got an 8-ball once

It seriously looks like one of those scooters that I always saw while I was in the Army over in Germany. But I'm sure that someone will think that they look cool enough to ride that 30 miles a month on.

OH I'm sure it'll sell... look at how hideous it is. But then again I'm not a big fan of Victory after Ness got their hands on the design boards.

I've never been a fan of Ness's custom bike designs either. Russ Mitchell of Exile Cycle is prolly my favorite custom designer

I think it looks kind of cool in that "I wouldn't ride it" kind of way....ok, maybe if the horn said "Danger Will Robinson!".
I can see captain kirk beaming down on that and cruising for aliens.
"Captain's log..I'm a bad MFer!"

OR....

don't worry if you don't like it they will have a new improved version out next year

despite coming out with more and more radical bikes in the showroom you never see any on the road

I think it is more aimed to take sales from Honda and goldwing more then from Harley.

It looks more like a snowmobile on wheels then a motorcycle.

I also got to ride one, at the Cycle World show in Long Beach CA. Although it handled OK (especially for as HUGE as it is, I was underwhelmed by the motor and trans. In fact, it felt pretty bad: Loud (not the good kind), clunky, just OK power. And more than that, the power it did make was so bland. No character.

XLXR
28th February 2008, 08:05
That's where I rode it also. How would describe how the motor felt? Not the power, just the weird type of pulse of big pistons slowly moving up and down. Massey Ferguson tractor, maybe? I just never figured out how to describe it.

As long as you wear your STAR TREK costume or maybe one of those rings around your neck like everyone in the JETSONS you'll look right at home... as for a helmet one of those nice plexiglass bubbles would be cool.

On a V-Twin forum that I visit, "The Gadget Guru" did a review (http://www.gadgetguru.com/Victory%20Vision%20Blog.htm)on this bike. He bought one recently. He drew his comparisons to his previous bike; a '97 Road King....

This from a guy who lost his gig on the Today Show for trafficking cocaine (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9501E3D6133EF935A35751C1A96F9582 60&n=Top/Reference/Times%20Topics/Subjects/D/Drug%20Abuse%20and%20Traffic).

I would have to be high to ride it.

I saw and sat on one at a show recently. It's contrary to everything I love about motorcycles, and I wouldn't be seen riding one - but I'm glad someone made it.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing at first - it certainly has presence, in a Captain Scarlet versus the Mysterons kind of way. Even the sales guy on the Victory stand just went :dunno. when I gave him a questioning look!

I have to agree, FUGLY is definately the word.

Indeed, this was what resulted with Victory's partnership with Arlen Ness on this project. I have never been a fan of Arlen Ness's work. Although I admire his business sense and success, I think his ideas of what a motorcycle should look like justify the harshest critics of American motorcycle design.

One thing I cannot understand. I read The Horse magazine, where OCC and their ilk get a real roasting, and billet barges are criticised. But Arlen Ness, who pretty much started the billet / megabucks custom bike / theme bike phenomenon, seems to escape completely, like he's beyond criticism; whereas he's probably the worst "offender".

Funny how it went from a hideous concept to a hideaous bike though.

You're right, there was a thread a long time ago with a couple hundred replies. One of which I remember very well, Bert posted a head shot of the Victory and a head shot of Bozo the clown and they look very very similar.

But I can't find it either.

sorry for the rehashing of old posts... (I always forget to use the search feature.) Besides I thought it was new... just seen the commercial the other day on TV. Its just so out there design wise I had to comment. I'm sure within the next year we will see a post of someone going to the "darkside" for a Victory Vision.

I was at the Ness Store in Vegas yesterday and there were about 20 of htem on the showroom floor. I made a comment to myself kinda outloud...LOLOL I think I said "What kind of 'Shroom' was the guy on that designed this.....LOLOL A sales rep in the area got kinda pissy and started saying that the designer makes tons of money and that talks for itself. I don't care who much Arlen makes that thing is still UGLY!!!!

I'm not chastising ya, I'm just busting on ya for not thinking it sooner. ;)

BTW, I saw them at the psycho-world show a couple months back and they were LESS ugly in person (but still UGLY).
