Hi guys!

Just finished head work of my sporty! It's amazing how efficient and satisfactory work you can do using simple tools. I spent many of evenings in my garage, but I think it wasn't lost time. Of course I don't have flow bench to measure flow before and after work. Nevertheless I think my job will improve a lot. Cannot wait for finish my conversion, start motor and first run. :tour
As I spoke before ,for me there is no any sense to send heads to professional porters. First of all they charge so much, beside good home porting is enough for street run. Don't change the valves. With 883 heads you will get nice torque curve. 883 heads have smaller exhaust and inlet channels. Thanks to that, the air-fuel mixture has higher velocity giving higher torque on low rpm range.

Here you can see effects of my work:

If you are going port your heads at home visit websites below, very helpfull:

INLET PORT READY FOR THE ACTION

Who did the valve job prior to you polishing the ports?

I did! First I cleaned the valves, then polished them. After that I ported the heads. No valve grinding and no seats machining. It was no necessary. Have only 20000 miles on the bike. Pitings on the exhaust valves I eliminated by lapping. Valves and seats look perfectly. Lapping valves and seats was the last job in all process. No any leaks found!!!
