I just attended my cousin's Bat Mitzvah and HOLY COW! I cannot believe what her father/mother did for her. I just emailed my friend who asked how it went so I'm gonna copy/paste my email here as I am too tired to type it all over again. Again.......the most incredible party/ceremony I had ever been to:

-------

If I had to guess, I'd say that my cousin spent upwards of $70,000+ for this
Bat Mitzvah. Lets see..... besides the rented tour bus for the kids to have
fun in while going from the Temple to the Country Club, at the "reception
area", we had:

open bar for everybody all day/night and appetizers were:
coconut shrimp
sushi
lamb chops
pastrami
roast beef
prime rib
lobster ravioli
chow mein (think that's what it was)
full buffet for the kids (burgers, hot dogs, etc......)
mushroom stuffed with crab
cheeses
fruits

and a shit load of other stuff I'm sure I never had time to see or sample.
And then..............

In the party room, there was 4 DJ's with live streaming video and pictures
onto LCD screens, paid dancers to get everybody up and moving, magicians, 7
photographers (for the guests and they put your picture into water globes,
frames or whatever), silk screen painters for t-shirts or ballcaps. The
list goes on and on and they even thought of bringing ear plugs for the
older guests and new socks for anybody who'd rather take their shoes off to
dance. Shit was incredible and the best party I'd ever been to. OH! And
after we got into the party room, we had another menu to choose from for
our main course. I chose the Filet Mignon. That was yesterday and then
today we had to go to their house for a fully catered breakfast before
everybody left for their homes.

Although I don't want to see food for a week........

It was incredible!

I don't know what some of these parents are thinking.....but whatever floats their boats. There is a show on TV, "My Super Sweet 16" with these overprivleged, self absorbed monsters who think life is all about catering to them. It makes me cringe watching these little primadonnas. Don't get me wrong....I'd still go to the party if I was invited. :wonderlan

A whole lot of people have a bunch of money to spend.
Not me though.
What the hell did I do wrong?

Actually I could give you a list, but still!

How do I go about getting someone to give me one of those things? Hell, all I want is the open bar!

YOU!? Hell here's my story:

The mother is an architect and the husband (my cousin) used to be the lighting director for the Cosby show and now has his own company and is in charge of all lighting at the Olympics!

My two brothers are doctors, and so is my sister........

And I'm the cable guy!

Now you tell me where I went wrong! :tour

But the way I see it is like this:

I am happier and less stressed and am able to attend all functions and see my son grow up and wouldn't change it for the world!

Money isn't everything

(Still a hell of a party!!!!!)

I thought Bat Mitzvah was a gun fighter who later became a sports writer.

Sounds like a hell of a party. When I was young I remember going to the bar mitzvahs of my school friends and thinking, "Good Lord these folks know how to party!" Some of the best times of my young life.

I used to work for an Event Planner in Beverly Hills...

70k for a bar/bat mitzvah is NOTHING....:frownthre

I used to see it on a daily basis...

Once, a member of the Royal Family of Brunei paid us a quarter mil to fly (on the Princess' private 747) actresses, actors, crew, stage, sets, sound, lights, power...everything.. over to Brunei (next to Malaysia) and put on a stage show of Pocahontas for...get this..

A 5 YEAR OLD'S BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!
