I installed a new rotor and pads on my 76 1000, also added a braided line. I got the line 4" longer in anticipation of some longer fork tubes.

Ever since then, my brake has been jumpy. I give her a squeeze and it is like having antilock brakes! At first I figured maybe the pads and rotor needed some time to even up, but that was 200 miles ago.

My rear brake aint work a crap, even though the drum is smooth and the shoes are good, so having this front brake acting like this is a little dangerous. :bump

Anyone able to help? Thanks! :tour

Question was the rotor bought new out of the box?
Or was it a ebay special. By the sounds of what
you described of the rotor being jumpy, it sounds like it
maybe warped to me. If the brakes were sticking at all
just one heat cycle of being overly hot can warp a rotor.

Put bike up on a lift and spin wheel any runout at all and you
will hear the brake pads binding up on the rotor. The spacers
on your wheel maybe off center and may have created the overly
hot rotor thus equaling a warped rotor. Just a thought hope
this helps. :yikes

it was new, custom chrome drilled rotor. I will jack it up and see if it drags when rotated. It has done this since day one....
