I have a problem with numbness caused by abuse to my shoulders. On my stock 04R bars my hands go numb after about 5 or 6 miles. At the stealers I set on a 883L and liked the position of the stock bars. I know they will work so I ain't asking that question what I need to know is if I change from 04R stock to 883L stock will all cabling have to change or will it just be a matter of switching. The bar switch would be an in-expensive swap just a matter of price of new bar.

You'll need longer cables and a new brake line to put the Low's Buckhorn bar on your bike.

You can get away with installing 4" pullback risers without having to install longer cables and brake line...that's as far as the stock ones can be stretched, however.

The 1200R has very wide bars, so in most cases you'll be fine with the stock cables, hoses and wires.

Will keep you in mind S.G.. DM-SC with 4" pull back riser what if any effect will it have on tac and speedo. Also am getting conflicting info. Lets ask this questions differently. Has anyone went from stock 04R bars to 883L, and were there any changes to stock cables?

Snuffy, I have not done that bar change but I did put on 4" pull backs. You might also consider a grip change. I found the stockers significantly contributed to my own back/shoulder pain. May not be an issue for you but it might.

HERE'S A THREAD (http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=10344) covering the change I made and addressing the Speedo issue.

Also, before I settled on the pull backs I looked at the L bars. Sure looked to me like the brake line would need to be changed.

well, Looks are one thing, but measurements don't lie.

Snuffy, I've got a low, you've got an R (heck, I've got a base 883 in the basement now too...)

If ya want, I can measure both brake lines easy enough... you can measure yours too and we can compare numbers.

Let me know if you want and I can do it when I get home tonight.
