Hey,

I just bought a Buell Blast and in the test ride I never made it past 2nd gear. Oops. After I bought it and was trying to ride home, it won't shift into 3rd gear. I don't know what could be wrong with it, but I do know it has been dropped from a standstill once and the gear shifter is a little bent.

Can anyone help me out? Any idea what's wrong or estimate how bad a repair bill will be?

Other than checking to see if the shift lever is rubing against something, I don't have any idea.

First: Welcome to the Forum there are a lot of experienced members in here who readily share good advice.

Secondly: I had a similar problem shifting, not in a Buell mind you, but with a similar shift mechanism.

In my case one of the two ratchet springs controlling a ratchet finger was broken and it only allowed the shift drum to rotate one position on either side of neutral.

If it will, you can try ratcheting it down more than one gear change until it stops then see if the shift drum will start from a new position and in 1st then move all the way up through the gears.

However your symptoms sound like they require an internal inspection and repair. My guess would be in the $500.00 neighbourhood depending where you take it.

Let's see if others have had this situation and their remedy.

Cheers;

What year is the Blast? Is it new?
