My sporty went to the big trade-in sky Saturday. The dealer gave me a great deal on a Street-Glide and had a buyer for my 1200C. I ended up getting 8k for my bike and 1k off MSRP on the glide. I just couldn't pass up that deal.

Lately the sporty has been beating me up. I have developed moderate Rheumotiod Athritis and every time I ride it seems my hands and feet swell. Last weekend I rode a buddie's Ultra for a day, and the way it was set up, no swelling. So I took the plunge into the big twin world. I logged about 300 miles on Sunday and today. No swelling. Life is good again. I will miss the sporty (first bike) but I won't miss the pain that goes with it. I guess I've finally grown old.

I'll be around a little longer but will probably hang more at the sister site. Ya'll have fun.

Thats a bitch of a disease, my sister has it and when she swells up she can't do anything. Congrats on the new Street-Glide sorry about the sporty, but at least you can still ride!

And the DARK side claims yet another.........who will be next?
No one is safe from the dark side!!!

We are taking over, one rider at at time.......

Ok, you got a great deal there, congrats on the new ride just a word of caution about the glides, at parking lot speeds, DO NOT turn the front tight and use the front brakes, this will stop the bike, but it will fall out from under you too. Learn to use the rear brake only in a parking lot.

Looks like I might finally get to race a bagger. You have to do what works for you. 8K is a good trade.

Why leave, your blood has been exposed to Sporty Ownership and you'll always have it in your system.

Well then...welcome to the dark side.
We like Sportys too over at the V-2 so it's not such a leap.;)
Most of us have or have had a Sporty and or often a sporty & BT at the same time and lots of us frequent both forums.

Cool Dad,no worries.I wouldn't mind an FX or so but I wont let go of my Sportster. There are just some physical conditions that we can't get around be it age or some kind of metabolic crap shoot. And so you will remain one of us untill you are informed otherwise jerko.

Milmat, I had 33817 miles on it. I took off what accessories I could (Leatherpros bags, chrome T/S headlamp visors, brand new mikuni carb, and other items) and left a new set of passing lamps and new windshield on it. I have a friend at the dealer and she had it sold before I traded. I think she got $8500 for it.

The street-glide is a brand new '08.

To all others I won't be a stranger as I usually bide my time at work on the net. Remember, I'm the Maytag repairman at my job. Never anything much to do and I get paid a decent wage to do it. I'll be back and forth from here to the big-twin forum.

I'll be listing some accessories soon. My bags, mustang solo, older windshield, etc. Ya'll watch the classifieds for some great deals.
