A few XLF members have stated that the website is slower since moving to the new server. I still need to perform some server optimization but need to know what everyone is experiencing.

It didn't seem slow yesterday but tonight it is crawling for me, like 30 seconds sometimes. I went to the photo gallery and could actually watch the thumbnails load, usually they load instantly.

Speaking of the gallery, not sure how but I ended up with someone else's pic in one of my spots.

This is not my second version of my tank shifter or even my bike. I like the look though.

It seems a little faster but the real difference is the consistency of the speed at which pages load. It used to slow down at different times over the coarse of the day. Since your upgrade it has remained fast loading all day each day so far.

Mr Jimi

I'm thinking the slower speeds could be related to area, I live in Florida/Southeast USA and It takes me 55 seconds for a refresh at 6:30 AM ? and I'm on Comcast cable see my Comcast speeds here (http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=177967)
Please post your area of the world with speeds
Thanks

Sometimes it works kinda normally, but sometimes it's HELLA SLOW, like MINUTES to load a page. Makes you think it's locked up.

I can't tell a difference....everything is slow to me these days. I recently switched from a 5 meg cable connection to a <1 meg dsl becasuse of cost and tired or being f:censor by the cable company. Every website feels like I'm watching paint dry.

"Fasterfox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269) Page Load Timer" said it took 218.780s to load this page with the 24 posts I saw when I wrote this post.

I have my settings at 40 posts per page, so that accounts for some slowness.

BUT, it only took 1.453s to re-load this page with my post (and bclerk's post #25) added.

bplinson
11th March 2008, 14:09
I believe that part of the slowness is being caused by the website IP address change and every spider/robot are crawling the site to update their caches. This should taper off after a few days.

I am still going to do some server optimization to make it run smoother.

Stupor Duper S-L-O-W....

Last week was WAAAAAAY faster.
But we went to Daylights Savings' Time on the weakend and,
eversince, every thing has seemed a bit s l o w e r.
Maybe cos we lost an hour's s l e e p . . . . (yawn... Zzzzzzz....)

Or maybe it's this S L O W site that's slowing the rest of the
world down. Either that or the Earth is spinning s l o w e r
this week (who'd know?). Either that or I need an espresso.
.................what? Oh...must've been dozing.... 8o)
