Bought a new '06 1200R and dealer installed SEII slip on's and SE filter kit before I took delivery. DID'NT touch the carb. Bike is lean on bottom and I was going to rejet it myself to save fighting with the dealer. But a couple of people have told me if I do it myself I will void the warranty. Said dealer has to do it........So question is.........Will it void the warranty if I do it ?

I think it depends on your experience level. I am on my first Harley and first street bike. I had the dealer do mine; I know its covered and... hell... they did a good job. (Albeit an expensive one. Lol.) Now, if I had to rejet NOW I have a few friends who could easily show me the ropes and I wouldn't worry about goin for it. If you know whats goin on rejet yourself -

I know they can give you hassle but your bike will still be covered. You may want to call the dealer or MoCo and make sure you follow anything they say you have to do. Like, for service intervals my dealer sayes I have to come and have them 'sign off the work' at 1k or 5k or whatever... in my owners manual.

But, you can do your own work...

Maybe someone with more experience will post soon...

If you follow the directions posted in Stevo's "Jetting 101" and numerous other threads posted here on the forum, the jetting will get done correctly, and not infringe on your warranty.

For as simple a procedure as it is, and the amount of information here on the forum, there's no reason not to do it yourself.

Good luck!

Went to dealer today and posed same question to service manager.
He said it would be best if they done it for the reason that if anything
engine-wise happened that needed warranty work that nobody could say that I caused it. If they done all the work then they could be no excuses made to not honor the warranty. He also said he had to charge parts and labor for doing it to someone.
So time to fight with sales to get them to honor the promise of taking care of any jetting needs. After a meeting with salesman and sales manager they agreed to cover the costs as promised. Bring it back and they would take care of it.
So all is well that ends well, but it seemed like a lot to go through to get something done that should have been done before I took delivery.

When I bought my bike it was from a dealer in Lancaster, so I knew they wouldnt be working on the bike. When I had the parts and it was time for the 1k mile service I had a local dealer in Columbus do the Stage I primarily so I would have a dealer that would honor the warranty on the bike.

Figured it was worth the goodwill. I plan on servicing the bike from here on out, unless it is warranty work.

Jetting can be fun also, Sportsterwheelies did it 5 times on one of our mountian runs until he got what he wanted. 5 minutes and he was off an running.
