I got home from Shemya Today, obstacle #1 conquerred(never know if the plane will fly due to weather).
The box from Trak-Tek was already here, nice package. I bought the complete kit because I mixed and matched parts when I installed the Hurricane Flow, and had to cut and grind some stuff to get the carb support and breather to fit right, won't do that again. #2 down.
FedEx from MandM should be here tomorrow. That will hold The V&H Straightshots HS, Quiet baffles and Isogrips.
Widecenter Flanders drag bars are shipped, should arrive any day.
Pingle fuel valve is shipped, should also arrive any day.
I know I'll need to do some retuning, local shop has a dyno and all the jets I might need available.
Got a heater for my garage!!
I'll chronicle this stuff with low res thumbnails as I go, with before and after pics, and a description of any pitfalls or victories.
As the posts proceed, I'll have to remove old pics to post new ones. So if you follow this save the pics you want, or PM me and I'll email them. Hey, I have 5 weeks off, this won't be rushed.
Here's a couple of what she looks like now.

I got the exhaust system today, all in original sealed boxes from V&H, via MandM Cycles. I'll say the stuff is impressive, very nice.
The pics will be at the end of this post, so here's what you'll see.
What came in the box.
The Quiet baffles.
Comparison of stock and quiet baffles.
First, the foam packing that protects the chrome has some goo that leaves some residue on the parts, so do a thorough cleaning of all parts before you start the installation.
The standard baffles are a straight through design, a tube inside a tube, with mildly restrictive perforations and no packing.
The quiet baffles have a significant restrictor plug at the headpipe end, and perforations following that, then a glass wrap around an expanded metal tube to the outlet.
I thought at first the wrap on the baffles was a packing material for shipping, and cut it off-OOOPPPS. After I realized that what I had removed was glass packing, I called V&H, and they told me to just tape it back on with scotch tape, it'll burn off.

That scorned woman is my darling wife, waiting for me to quit screwing around with the camera so we can go for a ride.
She really is quite understanding. Before the Sporty it was my Explorer, and before that it was....you know.

The Straightshots are on, no significant probs with the install. The mounting bracket that replaced the crossover took a little messing around to get it to fit, but not a big deal.
The sound with the quiet baffles is just what I was looking for, louder than the SEII's, but low and rumbly with a real nice lope at idle.
The Flanders bars are on, kind of. I dropped a throttle cable ferrule, searched for it for an hour, then realised I had spares in my parts box from when I switched to SS cables. I'll find that FKR when I cut my arm off with the chain saw cuttin wood for the fireplace.
I got cold, tired, and a little drunk, and took a progress pic. I'd put some kind of smiley here, but none fit.

Hey Radar, what kind of windshield is that? Is it detachable? (Easily detachable, I mean)

It's the small Windvest, and works great.
It can be removed by 2 allen screws that hold it to the the brackets that attach to the handlebars, or you can take it all off at once by romoving 4 allen screws, my prefferred method.
Best bucks I've spent so far on the bike, still have some wind in your face down the road, but you're not a basket case after a 600 mile day.

Well, I've been busy with my wife relocating her gift shop, I had no idea how much inventory she has, but that's done now.
Finished up the Flanders bar install, and got everything tightened back up.
Didn't put the Pingel petcock in yet, but that can wait till spring when I drain and refill the tank.
It's so cold out the adhesive for the left grip hasn't hardened overnight, no big deal 14* here now, and not gonna be out of the 20's this week.
I think I'm gonna like these new bars, a little wider with some pullback. Puts me in a more upright riding position.
Drag bars are an aquirred taste, these seem to fit my needs. Just sitting on the bike, I really like the feel. They are the Flanders wide center 25* bars.

Thanks. -8* here this morning.
We were gonna go to bike week, but it was rainy and miserable the whole time here. Maybe next year!

Got everything done and running, really happy with all the stuff I put on.
The single best upgrade I made this winter was the TC88A ignition, which was an afterthought when I started in Dec. The ignition became a reality because of Tubota and his relentless efforts to achieve perfection. Thanks again Ron!
Here's what went on this time-final pics.

looks good radar. glad to hear everything worked out good. Does that pingel petcock click when you put it on main, reserve or off like the stock petcock does?

radar

The Pingel doesn't have clickstops, but it does flow much better than the stock. I found this out when draining the tank for install. The stock kind of drizzled while draining, thought it was my vacuum pump, but that was OK. After the Pingel was in I checked the flow to compare, and the flow was a good stream.
It's not hard to use- all the way forward is off, all the way back is on, in the middle is reserve.
